(Not that I'm a standup, but anyway....)
My advise would be to try not to learn your material in a parrot manner. If you have a bit of a nerve attack and fuck up a line you could end up dying in a big way if you can't mentally move on to the next bit until you've gone through all the fucked up bit. If you've written it all down and learn it word for word you'll also have more of a problem picking it back up if you get interrupted (heckled, someone drops something, etc).
If you do go for the parrot technique, learn it VERY well, and possibly practice stopping in the middle and saying a few things to someone else, then resume. *shrugs*
