first episode was the "pilot" and you can really tell - from the second episode onwards the show feels tighter, and the musical numbers and stilted visual style all work much better due to massively increased production values. that's not to say the first episode isn't good - but the show definitely ramps up as the season progresses.
will be interesting to see if local audiences take to the subtlety of the show's humour, though - especially since its timeslot is being fed by rove's "audience". it's getting lots of press, though, so hopefully it finds the audience it deserves. |
