| Turn On, Turn Off Green Guide, Thursday July 31 For Holly: The Comedy Concert of 2003 This concert-turned telethon is an example of laughter beinf the best medicine. Holly Robinson, daughter of Good News Week producer Ted Robinson, died of a brain tumour shortly before the event she conceived as a fund-raiser for cancer research. Performers donated their time and the money raised from ticket sales and donations during this screening of the July 19 concert will go to Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital. Despite Channel Ten's takeover of GNW, the comedy line-up is pure 1990s Aunty with the return of the Doug Anthony All-Stars (pictured) and Jean Kittson's flaky lifestyle nut Candida, plus Wendy Harmer, Roy and HG, Flacco and the Sandman and Libbi Gorr. In the concert itself, Andrew Denton quipped that "if a bomb went off in this room it would rip the guts out of the middle-aged satire and cabaret scene in Australia". Dave Hughes, Wil Anderson, Corinne Grant and Greg Fleet represent the 21st century, while acts including the Wiggles, Paul Capsis, Marcia Hines and Brit popster Gareth Gates add a musical dimension. Sorry if its been mentioned but theres a little bit about it in the current TV Week magazine... including a tiny picture of the dougs. As far as I know its just mentioned in the "from the editor" bit, but there may be something else on it, I only got to have a quick look while I was restocking the magazines at work. | ||

From the Green Guide Letters section, 7/8/2003 Holly concert butchered Channel Ten's coverage of the For Holly concert on Sunday was atrocious. I knew it would be cut down somewhat, but the withdrawal of the Doug Anthony Allstars' second song, which was by far the most popular part of the actual concert, is beyond compare. It would have been far more appropriate to cut Gareth Gate's song out, as he had nothing to do with Holly Robinson and it was only a bit of shameless promotion. Rebecca Dunbar, Pakenham | ||

| MOSH Veteran | Champions of charity Well done to Network TEN for showing For Holly from the Sydney Opera House (August 3). Holly Robinson would have been extremely proud to see all those wonderful performers come together and finish something she started to organise before she passed away in April from cancer. I was very proud of all the Australian acts that came together for Holly, and to raise money for cancer research. Maria, Forest Hill, Vic TV Week August 23-29 2003 | ||
