Well sometimes acts just have bad nights. I usually like Jimeoin, but last time I saw him in Geelong his support act was funnier!! Akmal Salih I think was the name. He's been on The Glasshouse a few times.

Damian Callinan one night at the Festival Club last year was shocking. He seemed to be trying out a new character or something. Think it was along the lines of Romeo & Damo? He was like a clown or some circus act, but his partner hadn't shown up so he was trying to do the show on his own. (the partner not showing up was the act).

But anyway, it bombed big time, and the longer he went on, the harder it was to hear him, because everyone just started talking among themselves (it was a sat night so it was a full house too). at some point he dragged himself offstage and noone was paying attention, so when MC Greg Fleet came back on, he just screamed into the mic until everyone was back. The rest of the night was fantastic after that. The guy who did Machomer, Rick? did a spot, and he brought the bloody roof down before the Scardies Superband came on. Now there's an example of opposite extremes in audience reaction on the one night.

So Jim-Bob had friends... let me guess, Ray-Bob, Billy-Bob & Bob-Bob!! - Cheyenne (Renegade)

admittedly i don't see a lot of live comedy shows, so it's hard to judge exactly what's good and bad. having said that, tonight's comedy store show with the MC Bev Killick really topped the list of worst comics ever that i'd seen. basically, in short, i thought she was shite - stupid faces and obnoxious noises are just not funny. however she must have been doing something right because everyone else in the audience seemed to find her hilarious. on the other hand i thought that all of the new comics on tonight were soooooo much funnier than bev, except i don't think the rest of the audience did. *shrugs*

Worst live show I've ever seen would be Anthony Ackroyd dying on his arse at the Oatley Hotel (and having some no-name comic abuse my mother in a disgusting fashion cause she wasn't laughing at him on the same night).

Best show ever would be a toss-up between the first time I ever saw Dave Gorman or the very last Late n Live show at Gilded Balloon Cowgate theatre in Edinburgh 2001 hosted by Adam Hills, Daniel Kitson and Ross Noble. Both shows had me wishing they would stop so I could catch a breath between laughs.

as for Bev Killick, she was on in town the other week and I thought she was great! Very crude, very coarse (I think she may have been a leetle bit drunk), but thoroughly funny. It was great to see a good female comic in Adelaide again (and we actually got 2 on the one night!) cos our scene, while rocking, is sadly lacking in the (is it X or Y, I didnt pay attention in biology) chromosome.
And as for shitty comics? There was this one MC the other week who was soooo painfully bad, but luckily Jussy came one and saved the day. It was just a case of gritting your teeth waiting for the jokes to come..and they never did. And this female comic who seems to have one shitty joke, which she stretches for her full set! *cringe* she's done this three times now!!!

four years on since i wrote that....however, i do clearly remember that gig, because it's the only time i've ever seen you. maybe you've had a chance to improve your solo act since then, cause that was a while ago.

and i wouldn't worry your name came up in this thread. this is one of the nice ones i've slagged off lots of other people on different threads too

My brother saw LORD OF THE KEBABS by Tahir and he left halfway though it!! But Tahir as a stand up comic is very good, well for me anyway

There was a british comedian i saw at the melbourne comedy roadshow 2-3 years ago and he was the final act, he DIED so badly (it was not jeff green, he is very good!!) i felt sorry for him

There is a Special fx, very crude jokes and i saw him die at CArlingford bowling club, and a lot of racist jokes, thank god he didnt say too much asian jokes at FAirfield rsl (i think thats were i saw he a 2nd time) otherwise he probably wouldnt of made it to the carpark alive!!

Yes.

And as a performer, people have the right to criticise your act. If you don't like it, I suggest you find a new profession. People aren't going to stop critiquing your shows just because it might hurt your feelings.
Laney explained why she didn't particularly care for your act, four years ago, in a clear manner.
If you're finding success with that stuff still, good for you. Knowing Laney I doubt she wishes failure upon you, she was just sharing her experience of one of the worst comedy shows she's seen, as the topic called for.
She at least acknowledged that plenty of other people found you hilarious, which she didn't have to do...

You are kidding, right? This is part of your rountine? No? Damn...

Why do you think we criticize performers? So that other people will know what we liked and didn't like. To know what shows to see and what shows to miss. I would like to think that the criticism on here is justified and reasons as to why they don't like someone's acts are given.

There are several people on here who have basically the same tastes in comedy that I do. When those people say they did or didn't like someone, I pay attention.

If one person on an internet board makes you stabby, I hope to the gods that you don't become famous because the interest will drive you to drinkin'.

your performance is a comment, and laney has right of reply.

look, fair enough that you want to get defensive about your work, i understand that. but if you can't go "well, maybe i wasn't as good then as what i am now", then you haven't made any improvement. considering the point of doing anything is to get better at it, critique is what you should want. laney thought you were a bit shit, she said why and also said that other people loved it. that's hardly slander. knowing that laney is, indeed, a real person with real feelings, i know that she wouldn't have meant any of it maliciously, but instead was making a comment. just like you, also a real person, think she's berko for doing so. anything you put into the public, whether it be performance, art or just plain talking, is open to comment. so you have three choices: stop performing, crack the shits at everyone who gives you a bad review, or suck it up and deal.

and yes, i'd say the same thing if we were having this conversation in real life.

are you saying, you've never criticised another performer? never said you didn't like someone else's act? you don't seriously think every time you get up and perform everyone loves you and no one has anything negative to say. clearly you didn't appreciate that i didn't like your act and now you're deleting relevant posts. too bad. you're a performer, you get judged whether you like it or not. stop being such an ass and just deal with it.

Hey Laney, I'm seriously okay. I deleted those posts because they were no longer relevant. It was getting a bit misconstrued. Which was kind of my whole point (at first) That a post from ages ago can become no longer relevant. I feel I've been taken the wrong way and to ensure I don't look like an "ass",have withdrawn from this discussion. Talk to me after a gig one time if you have any more comments to make about my comedy. I'm approachable you'll find.

If people want to introduce themselves, that's up to them, but that isn't what this thread is for. This thread is for people to relate their experiences of the worst comedy show they've seen.

Stay on topic everyone, thanks.
