GODSPEED! at The Kitten Club

When Penny Tangey said, "I want to undergo gender reassignment
surgery," I thought she was joking. I patted her on the back and offered
her a Bisc&. She screamed, "Don't stand in the way of my actualisation as
a man!" and pummelled my face.

Later, she explained she was joking.

We both laughed at my face, now covered in blood and beyond
recognition, and thought what a good idea it would be to open a comedy
room together.

Last Tuesday that dream was realised when Penny and I hosted the
opening night of GODSPEED! at The Kitten Club.

Oh, it was a riot! A frolicking night of stand-up comedy, cocktails, jazz . . .
and at the end of the night, we all kicked up our heels and laughed about
David Elvins' sexual problems.

It's been described as a "comedian’s comedy room". What does this
mean? That our acts are more inclined to perform eccentric material and
break things.

In this, the second week, Penny and I bring you . . .

RICHARD McKENZIE
A bombastic punk child who sometimes talks like an old Jewish man for
no apparent reason. Best known for his festival hit also featuring his
brother, Adam McKenzie, "The McKenzie Frenzy".

ZITA WHALLEY
She tells a story like a bandit with a case of verbal diarrhea. Her faced
paced monologues of youthful exuberance and stupidity mark her as an
affable little train wreck.

SAM SIMMONS
This man is mentally disordered. He is also the winner of the Moosehead
Award.

Don't miss it! It's this Tuesday. Doors open at 8:30. Upstairs at the dark
and loungy Kitten Club, 267 Little Collins Street (between Swanston and
Elizabeth Streets). Tickets are $10 full, $8 concession and $5 group (4 or
more).

Bring your friends and wear one of those caps that say, "No, I don't play
trumpet but can I please be in your ska band?"

Yours truly and wishing you godspeed,
Mia Timpano.
