Was Garry McDonald technically a comedian? Wasn't he an actor that did comedy? Just a thought

I didn't think his mother and son character was incredibly funny. Who was/is Neil Hamburger?

In my humble opinion Billy Connelly is the funniest comedian alive.. for more reasons that I can recount here, he has been a part of my life since I was a kid and he is STILL funny. Just to look at him makes me think - that man is funny. He will never "Beige out" He is followed closely by Robin Williams. Anyone who has heard Robin do his skit on "How the Scots invented Golf" would have to agree.. :p But thats just my opinion

I don't know that I could really pick just ONE comedian as the bestest ever. ![]() Wayne Brady? ![]() (watching Whose Line Is It Anyway at the moment..) Have to agree with Scatters about Robin Williams, though. He can do comedy from a kid's level (Aladdin) through to full on adult stuff, and can be incredibly funny at both. Absolutely brilliant man.

one of my all times favourites would have to be Peter Cook. good with character comedy, sketches, and just talking crap like in Derek and Clive and 'Just one Minute'

i would have to agree with a few people. Nick: Adam Hills is definately the best comedian this country has produced in a long time. And as far as I'm aware he's not an arsehole like some which makes him more popular with punters. Robin Williams is definately one of the funniest people around. Not so much for his films of late, but certainly his stand-up. I've got 3 of his live shows and u always find something funny each time u hear it. The recent live on Broadway is fantastic. And this time u can follow it. His previous works have been on drugs and alcohol (and if u think he's scary now, u should have seen him then) Billy Connolly is probably the world wide favourite. He attracts an expansive demographic and is still selling out stadiums at 61. and everyone seems to know at least one Billy joke to tell at parties. Most comedians would kill to have that kind of staying power and popularity. Eddie Murphy used to be brilliant. Now his launch into family films has seen his popularity landslide to practically nothing. I was watching Nutty Professor II the other day. I lasted 1/2 an hour it was that bad. Saturday night they showed Another 48 Hours and it was as funny as it's ever been. Bring back Delirious Eddie! or Golden Child Eddie!!

pixieDAAS must be from New Zealand... (Spike Mullagan) and to add to the discussion... What makes a good comedian? Is it just purely how much they make you laugh, or think, or how much they grab your attention and hold it?

ok>> I definaltey agree with the Neil Hamburger vote!! He is absolutley hilarious!!! One of the funnier comics I've seen around in a long time! I even bought a T-Shirt! Re: Adam Hills...yeah, you know. He's ok. I saw his show at the Comedy Festival last year, and I thought the only good bits were when he talked to the crowd. He's very quick witted, but after a while he started to annoy me and then at the end he started getting all preachy....which was quite odd. The reason I'm a bit blah on him is mainly because the funniest joke at his show was when he made a simpsons reference. That has to say something. I've never really liked Billy Connolly, everyone else in the world does so I'm sure the fault lies with me. Robin Williams....well, he's obviously quite the pro.... but nyeh. I think Bob Franklin is fantastic! Ross Noble of course! Lano & Woodley in their prime were probably the best comedians I've ever seen live or on TV. Harry Hill from england is great. his TV show is crap, but his stand-up is great! i havn't really checked out many of the old school comedians. I think i will though.
