Ok... Adam Hills: not bad, but nothing special. Jimoin: Used to be great, a bit passed it now. When i was growing up he was amazing! Bob Franklin: Fantastic....he's really wierd!! Saw him and jimoin back to back, and bob won hands down! Neil Hamburger: Genius! Rove Macmanus: I've only seen stuff on his show....but it's really crap! His standup section at the start is horid. really un funny stuff. his show is horid come to think of it. Tripod: One of the unfuniest groups in comedy. Absolute waste of time. Everyone loves them though, so i guess it's my fault. Wil Anderson: He's ok. He's been doing the same act since 1878 though. Pretty good. Lano & Woodley: Awesome!! not as on the ball as they used to be, but still fantastic! Their shows are hilarious! Ethel Chop: Excellent!! Ross Noble: Excellent! Carl Baron: crap./ really boring un imaginative comedy. "Sometimes I do this". No punchline. just saying stuff. "hey, I do that too!". blah That'll do for starters

Adam Hills: Over rated, but has moments of brilliance. His Comedy Brig-Aid CD was the worst $5 I ever spent. Jimeoin: Still pretty funny. Another victim of Ch7, too, with his show getting axed in the second season I think? Bob Franklin: Not seen him solo, only with Jimeoin on his show, where he was great. Neil Hamburger: Going by the quotes you had in the other thread, sounds like one of the pathetic bunch who say offensive things for the sake of it and claim that it's comedy. See Scott Capurro for another example. Rove McManus: Can be pretty funny, though I don't watch his show regularly anymore, usually only when one of the guests interests me. Has "done a lot for comedy" over the years and deserves major kudos for using his position and popularity for the good of comedy. Also earns a bunch of bonus points for not being a prat and pretending toys aren't fun. ![]() Tripod: Probably the best musical comedy group going around at the moment, in my opinion. Scared Weird Little Guys are still great, but Tripod top them for me at the moment. Tripod are not always brilliant, though. The 2nd Song in an Hour CD is absolute trash, from start to finish. Not a single song on it that I enjoyed, compared to enjoying almost the entire 1st CD. Fegh Maha sounds a lot better, but I'm still waiting on my copy. ![]() Wil Anderson: Great if you don't soak up every last performance he ever puts on. He does repeat material a lot, according to some - but if you only ever watch him on The Glasshouse (or The Fat/110% Tony Squires) you'll mostly see original stuff. Usually good for a couple of laughs an episode. And a darn sight funnier than some of the better respected guests they've had on from time to time. ![]() Lano & Woodley: Haven't heard any of their recent stuff. ![]() Ethel Chop: Abysmal. Harassing audience members for laughs is lame. Especially when the "jokes" are re-treads or just plain unfunny. The only act I didn't enjoy during the Roadshow performance I went to - including the American guy I'd never heard of and haven't heard about since.. Ross Noble: Hit and miss. He's either on fire or just.. meh. Carl Baron: Usually amusing, though not always brilliant. His first performance on TV on the Footy Show was the best of his I'd seen - though he was immensely nervous.

Tripod: I used to think they were the most unfunny act around, but listening to more of their stuff, and now having heard some of their live stuff, i've become a bit of a fan. I can understand that people don't like them. Rove McManus: I think as a comedian he's not THAT bad, but on his show being a host he's shithouse. I've heard him do stuff that's made me laugh a lot, and then I've also seen him on Rove Live and i just feel sorry for all his cringe worth jokes. Wil Anderson: Basically what Mythor said. If you've seen him too much he retells the same jokes, but i suppose whenever i don't hear the same jokes over and over, he's not a bad comedian. Ethal Chop: pfftttttttttt Ross Noble: He's always on fire, man!!!!!!

Adam Hills: Pretty good, nana friendly, but he gets a bit serious at times I didn't enjoy his show last year that much because he was getting preachy Jimeoin: Not bad but I hope he continues with the fims I think his humour translates well to the big screen Bob Franklin: I think he has his moments, but is not someone I'd race out to see. Neil Hamburger: Don't know his work, apparently hailed as brilliant, but I've never read anything that explains why he is so brilliant Rove McManus: should stick to being a host and not try comedy, but should also take lessons in how to talk to guests without sounding like a condescending idiot Tripod: Best musical comedy group in australia at the moment, but they need to take some time away from the tv and radio I think so they can write some new material for their live shows. (I may change my opinion if i see that they have written a new show for the festival) Wil Anderson: funny guy, love his work, but he's getting a bit of a big head about being on TV Lano & Woodley: They possibly need to develop their act, watching them on rove and stand up the other night was almost painful in the way that they haven't written any new routines Ethel Chop: Don't like her one little bit, annoying "old" bag, i know that's what the character is supposed to be, but there should be some endearing qualities Ross Noble: brilliant in the fact that he wanders all over the place. He's a bit like a weird dream in that respect Carl Baron: can be funny but overall an average comedian I'd say

Adam Hills: good but not the best Jimoin: still quite entertaining but like someone else said would like to see him doing more movie work Bob Franklin: only ever seen him supporting Jimoin, was entertaining but not great Neil Hamburger: who? the quotes that have been thrown around haven't encouraged me to see him Rove Macmanus: hate ferret boy, no good reason, just do Tripod: i'm starting to find them a bit meh but that could just be me cause I've previously held them in high comedy regard Wil Anderson: Can get repetative which probably comes from a bit of over exposure, as long as you don't see/hear too much of his work he's pretty good Lano & Woodley: just not interested in them Ethel Chop: no thanks Ross Noble: really enjoy his work but does have moments when it's a complete miss Carl Baron: don't hate him, had to watch his dvd at xmas and thought i would. It wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either.

Adam Hills: used to hate him back when he appeared on Good News Week with a passion. Saw him do "Working Class Anthem" live at the Hi-Fi and went, hmm he's not bad, might see his show, which happened to be Happy Feet. Worshipped the man ever since Jimoin: i have to agree that he is a bit passed it now. what i thought was funny ten years ago bugs the crap out of me now. Bob Franklin: funny the first time i saw him. still does exactly the same material every time after Neil Hamburger: never seen him, though that julia roberts joke was just plain stupid Rove Macmanus: used to be funny on GNW and channel 9. to Darryl Somers ish for my liking now Tripod: Used to hate them. I was one of the "They're jsut trying to be like DAAS" Then began to adore them after Open Slather. Loved them even more for Tosswinkle & Lady Robots. But I hated Tripod R Tripod. I could have just stayed at home and watch Skithouse. I agree that they really have to get back to the standup/singing stuff and less with the TV. I only laugh at them on Skithouse, not for the jokes but "Scod is a nerd" kind of thing Wil Anderson: Needs some new material. Used to be refered to as the new Rod Quantock, but he's changed his look and the stand-up has changed as well. now its all about him. Needs to get his head out of his own arse and get back tot he brilliance he once was. Lano & Woodley: hated their last show but the classics are still funny! Ethel Chop: should burn and rot in hell Ross Noble: The most brilliant comedian on the face of the earth! Some call him the new Billy Connelly, but he is far better. Carl Baron: Wannabe Seinfeld, humour only works on "Footy Show" Audiences which shows how high brow his stuff is. Observational comedy does not work well in this country

Okies, my turn. Adam Hills: became a fan after he did Go You Big Red Fire Engine at my uni, and then not only consented to do an interview for my radio show straight after, but really appeared to enjoy doing it. (The transcripts around here somewhere.) Jimeoin: Agree with general consensus, but that doesn't mean he's not funny any more. He's just not as funny. Bob Franklin: Only seen him once, enjoyed. Neil Hamburger: No comment. I think I've commented enough. Rove McManus: *cringes* A bit Sommersish? All he needs is a puppet! but I do agree with Myth that he deserves credit for the exposure he gives comedians. Tripod: Hated them. Hated their costumes. Decided for some reason two years ago that the best thing I could do for my birthday was to go see them in Pod August Nights (I think 2) and loved them. Wil: Much better doing stand up than he is on tv. For one, there's no autocue. I enjoy watching anyone who has tonnes of energy on stage.Lano and Woodly: Have never seen a show of theirs, only tv appearances. Was a tad concerned by this at the last Stand Up taping when I realised I knew their entire routine. And then saw some of it again on Rove a week later. Ethel Chop: Well, she has an occasional good joke. Occasional. Ross Noble: Hilarious. I can see how he might be a miss sometimes, but not on the nights I've been. Carl Barron: The one joke man. 'This side Ghandi, this side Paul Kelly.' Haven't heard him say anything else funny.

going by the origins of this board (and by origins i mean since 96) the majority of fans here were big on absurdist, musical and satire types of comedy. Meaning Daas & Good news Week. so there really isn't much audience for people like ethel. even though i totally disagree with u're view on the pod; it's really good to see a different viewpoint not based on the fact that someone is or isn't hot (unlike some other fan boards). good on u

Adam Hills: I really like his style, and he does great things with the audience. Jimoin: He has perfected his facal expressions and other forms of comedy - but this is kinda limited. Bob Franklin: He is an odd person- although wouldn't be someone who i would continuly see. Neil Hamburger: dont know him. Rove Macmanus: I dont watch him anymore, cant really be bothered and I liked the old school stuff better. Damn tv! Tripod: There imagination is awsome, the narratives are masterpieces of theatre and comedy. Wil Anderson: Great comic, another person who is good at banter. Although it is fun to mock him. Lano & Woodley: I love their slap stick- and i dont normally like slap stick. Although haven't seen their recent stuff. Ethel Chop: Unfunny. Ross Noble: Excellent! His story telling style is ingrossing. Carl Baron: He is a simple stand up - but is great at it.

Kind of a limited list....but anyway. Adam Hills: Pretty funny at time, relatively consistant. In other words if he was playing near me I'd go. Jimoin: His show was pretty funny, but unfortunately it's been kinda down hill since then, although maybe some more big screen stuff is what's needed. Bob Franklin: Strange strange man. He was fricken insane on the extra bits that came with the Bad Eggs DVD. Strange. Neil Hamburger: Who the what now? Rove Macmanus: his show has gone down hill since he left Channel 9 which is unfortunate cos at the time I thought it was great...I haven't seen the DVD so I may have been entirely misguided. Tripod: Funny at times though lately a little less funny. I hate them for going on Skithouse, I don't find that show funny, maybe one giggle a show but that's about it. My thoughts, take a little time out and work on some stuff then come back bigger and better! Wil Anderson: I hadn't seen much of Wil before the concert for Holly and while some of it was repeated material it was pretty good, but then again that whole night was just awesome so maybe I was just cought up in the spirit. Seems to have a little bit of attitude these days. Has the potential to be much funnier I think. Lano & Woodley: Kind of never got into them. They seem obnoxious and almost attempting the Mr Bean thing to me at times. Just not my thing really though they can be funny at times. Ethel Chop: Moving on...! Ross Noble: Saw him the other week. Funny but I didn't cack as much as I have previously. Audience loved him though. Here there and everywhere technique, tells half a story then forgets about it sometimes, some things run a little long but on the whole pretty good. Carl Baron: See I would see Carl as having a similar style to Ross Noble in the whole story telling thing. Carl is a little in the gutter but if you don't want to have to think about anything and just kinda laugh along it's good. i got the DVD for Christmas, it was almost the same as the show I saw early last year, but still got a giggle.
