Ok, i just saw stand up this week: here's my thoughts. From what i can remember: Tom Gleeson was nothing special. He had a couple of moments but yeah.... Sammy J....he's a nice guy, but his comedy isn't really my kinda thing. he's doing well though so good for him! I know I'm the only guy around here who likes ethel chop....but she confirmed it tonight. She's great!! C'mon....a corn cob in a dress??? That's gold!! Danny Casey (I think his name was?) yeah, he was pretty good! I liked it. GUD: not that great. I know everyone here likes it, but it's just not my kinda comedy. I didn't like DAAS or GNW that much either, so I'm putting it down to my personal taste. That was my first stand up watching. I like it. Hope it goes for a while.

![]() I think they're pretty weak and mostly see success based on McDermott being in the group. They can be amusing but they only get so much publicity because of Paul. Didn't watch Stand Up, and now that I know Ethel Chop was on, I'm glad I missed it. ![]()

| MOSHer | I'm a big GNW fan and DAAS fan, but the only thing I found that was good with that song was the way it was composed and the music... but in a comedy group you need to be.. hrmm funny? I couldn't see anything funny in that song. Oh wait wait... when they all sang Fuck The Poor... and it sounded like Fuck Paul... ahahahhaaaa... yeah like they haven't over used that technique before... Also I agree with Myth with how weak their act can be. They are all talented - but they just dont work with eachother well. And the same thing with the publicity... but we wont get started with that... Ethel only had one go at the crowd.... woah... but proved her stand up was worse! Tom I liked, and I think it was Darren Casey (Where have I heard the name berfore?) I would be interested in seeing a longer spot with him to get an idea of what he is like. I liked Sammys song, it had a few good punchlines in it. Not fantastic, but I think he could really go somewhere. | ||

Hi, I reckon that last night's Stand Up was absolutely shithouse. But having said that, the past few weeks have had some great comedians on and doing very funny material, so maybe last night was an anomaly? But last night's was crap- the host is so terrible. Has she even done one decent joke for the whole series? I think not. And all the comedians were only average- except Darren Casey- he was pretty cool and I think GUD were having a bad night. I saw GUD twice at the Adelaide Fringe a couple of weeks ago and they were on fire!!! For a hour and a half they had everybody in stitches. As they were coming onto the stage, they entered from behind and had to walk through the crowd. A girl in front of us had crutches lying next to her, so Paul, as he does, grabbed them and took them up on stage and hobbled around on them. Then towards the end of the show, Cameron decided to give them back. He brought them up to her, and was having a nice chat, then asked to see where her scar was. She said there wasn't a scar, so he threw the crutches back down the stairs. I think they (especially) paul and cam work together bloody well and I am a huge fan of their comedic style. I went to see Adam Hills the next night, and while he was reasonably funny, he had nothing on those boys. He was just too nice (and politically correct?), and I could feel myself strangely wanting to be verbally abused by an angry Paul Mcdermott for not laughing at a crap joke. But at least he's there's at the end to give out hugs! I would doubt there are any other comedians in the world with Mcdermott's energy and comedic genius , combined with the other's musical abilities. I highly reccommend them!
