good concept, but there's a few problems

a) not the most attractive layout
2) there's next to no information on there at the moment
c) you expect people to PAY for access
d) mosh! exists, performs much the same function, and it's FREE

if you can find a way around the problems outlined above, you could be providing a fantastic service for australian comedy.

hmm

layout was a bit hard to read. it was ok on my work computer cause it was only bought last week and is high tec but other peoples putes couldn't handle it.

and i agree with kebab, it will be extremely hard to get people to pay for access. that is what mosh is for. we've an extremly large group of people, hence why Token, Acess, @, the comedy store and a heaps of comedians themselves post their gigs on here rather than advertise (anyone notice the lack of print advertising for comedy now we are as powerful as we are).

and i don't really get the whole

. Mosh does not partake in rumour mongering for the most part. occasionally it does happen but stems from outside sources. most comedians know of and (most) respect what happens here. hence why most of the information comes straight from the horses mouth so to speak or at least from reliable sources

Mosh is the place people automatically go to find out what's coming up. Most people here have connections to comedians or those in the industry ( i have connections who have connections but u see what i mean).

good luck with it though. always good to have competition

I don't see the site as being competition for MOSH. MOSH is a messageboard and unless I missed the link, or it's hidden in one of the many members only sections, Front Row Centre doesn't have one.
The site is aiming to be the ultimate Australian comedy information source. The aim also being to get more people to comedy in Australia. Both are admirable goals.
That is also part of what MOSH does. So rather than competition, I would see it more as an ally. There is room for more than one information source in the industry, though I do question how many people will pay $7 for an unstated length of time subscription to a Gig Guide. I don't know how much of the info would be available here, but many of the management companies have their own sites with info available, and not surprisingly, for free.
The multiple levels of what appears to be the same subscription seem to indicate that the $7 may be a monthly fee?
It seems a fair bit of work (and money - hopefully) has gone into the site, so I'd have to say good luck to them. I am getting close to covering costs here from the donations, but suspect very few people would want to pay for access to the News/Dates folder, for example.

So, I wish them luck, but expect they may have troubles getting the general public through the door - which is where the site will live or die.

I find it interesting that the ex-MOSHer known as Cherub is running the site.

I know I won't be paying the $7 a day/week/month/year for access to the Gig Guide. And I question how many other people would do so. I know not every gig gets listed here, but we don't charge any money to list them here, either. And we don't charge a fee to see what we do list. I think that's going to be the killer - the only way to find out what is in the gig guide is to subscribe. If you subscribe and find out the gig guide is woefully incomplete, you're screwed?

It might succeed if industry people get behind it... But without industry support... I don't know.

Like I said in Admin-voice.. Good luck to her. I think she's going to need it.

I know MOSH has become "more than a messageboard" to some... But I'd prefer not to think of other sites as "competition".

Because then I might have to CRUSH! KILL! DESTROY!!

I can see that this would be a cool site if money wasn't asked, and I also can understand how expensive running a website can be if you want to something like this. But the fact is that this service people can get from Comic Attitued, Mosh and speicific comedy sites or comedian sites.

What you should do, if you want help with matienance ask for a donation - it may not happen in the first few months, but if you give the quality that you promise you are bound to get a few.

Good luck

I think this is a concept that has been tried many times, but not too many websites last because of the amount of effort that needs to be put into the site to be relevant and up to date. But I'm sure once Front Row Centre is fully up and running it will be very useful.

One thing that I think you will definitely lose visitors to (that everyone else has bought up already) is that you want them to subscribe to see sections like the Gig Guide and What's on TV, because if you look around you can find these things for free quite easily (All they have to do is look through your links page).

And also - would upcoming gigs be placed on the calendar? If so, does that mean that would become a Members Only option too?

There are a few things I'm confused about though... mainly the subscription prices... why pay $60 for a General Subscription when you offer the same thing for $7 at the top of the page?

And wouldn't the services you are offering to people in the industry already be available to them elsewhere because they *are* in the industry? I could be wrong, I don't know, but I just assumed people in the industry already have access to that kind of information? *shrug*

There are also a few spelling errors/typos that I've seen (targetted, guige, Merrik, etc).
But other than that, as I said earlier, it looks like it could turn out to be a very useful site - Good luck with everything.

Why else do you think that I've established myself here? For the bitching?

Okay, yes, it was for the bitching.
