I forgot that it was on last night and really wanted to watch it. My dad said it was alright for an australian based sketch show. And it was given the thumbs up by the tv guide (which doesn't say much) but Rich was also promoting it on the Breaky Show last week. Did anyone else catch any of it? What's it like? Any good?

I saw the ad for it and thought about watching it... But the Australia v Turkey soccer game was on at the same time, so I watched that instead. Looking back on the decision, I wish I'd watched the Fist.

I watched most of it. I'd forgotten it was on, but noticed it just as I was about to pop a video on and decided to give it a go. Not a bad show, better than the ads suggest anyhow. The basic premise of the show is that the boys are given a challenge to complete which will decide their "fist" factor (ranking?). We are then taken through the 'training' methods each of the guys undertake, as well as random skits loosely based around their "double fist"/daredevil motto. Oh, and there's a public challenge in there as well. This week's challenge involved jumping from a cliff in Kiama without getting injured. One guy focused on trying to find something to break his fall. Experimented with water filled bags tied onto watermelons, moved onto jumping onto boxes...walked into a shop to ask if they sold anything which would protect something "very big and very precious" before finally deciding to be wrapped in 22metres of bubble wrap. The next guy was obsessed with gliding and decided to make a suit that he could fly in. The scene of him accusing the young lady who worked at the fabric of refusing to sell him fabric that could make him glide was rather amusing. He eventually made his tight batman-type suit out of lycra, became obsessed with the need for backdraft in lifting him up and was seen being flung into the air by the Kiama blow hole. For a late-night sketch show on the ABC, the special effects aren't half bad. I believe during the actual event he used a grenade to create a backdraft over which he could glide, but ended up blowing himself up. The third guy decided that in order to land safely, all he need to do was to be able to jump 10 horizontal metres. This led him to get his legs waxed (and his bikini line as an added challenge) to reduce wind resistance, and eventually deciding that he needed to jump off the roof of a suddenly stopping car to clear the distance needed. There's also a guy in a panda suit...I'm hoping he gets involved more in the future. Interesting mix of styles, it'll take another episode or two before I entirely make up my mind what I think of it. Well op shop girl pretty much summed it up. I liked bits of it but a lot of it I wasn't overly amused by. The "public challenge" thing I know I have seen on somewhere, anyone know where it would have been? It's been annoying me. I may watch it again at some time before I make my final decision on the show, see if the amusing bits can outweigh the other.

*giggles* I just watched a clip that was left out of the first episode, involving the panda suggesting a way to keep your friends entertained at the airport. Damn that sounded like a fun trick...

They did that mayonaise thing for Recovery or Fly or something didn't they? I remember seeing that. Yuk, mayonaise. It was humourous...a good excuse to throw watermellons off a cliff really!
