Looking at last year's program (no, I don't have it filed away for easy access, it just appeared from under some other junk, it's really time I cleaned my room), it was pretty much the same situation. I think it's good for Fringe to steer away from the bigger names and really focus on promoting newcomers and more unusual acts, the kind you won't necessarily see at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

If nothing else you can just hang out at the Fringe Festival Club at the North Melbourne Town Hall: drink; see samples of shows; drink; chat with staff, vollies and random punters about what's worth seeing; drink some more; and then haul your butt out of the lounge chairs and go see something.

Begin shameless plug.

*Ahem* Not to be forgetting 'Straight Up!' with myself (Tommy Dassalo) Dave Bushell, and John Burgos. If you've been walking through the city or Brunswick st. in the last couple days you may have noticed out mini tidal wave of publicity, unless all our posters have been covered/torn down, in which case, I blame society.

At any rate: Sep. Thu 23,Sat 25,Tue 28,Thu 30,
Oct. Tue 5,Sat 9,Sun 10,

http://www.melbournefringe.com.au/cg...etevent&id=305

Hope to see some of you there. Not that I know what you look like, but you get the idea...

Come on people, take a chance!

Red face

I doubt I'll be at the Fringe this year guys. But ah well, the Comedy Festival's enough for me at the moment...

Magic armor had never been very popular in Ankh-Morpork ... it tended to lose its magic without warning. Many an ancient lord's last words had been, "You can't kill me because I've got magic aaargh!!" - Terry Pratchett (Interesting Times)

Thanks Tommy.

And it's a bit hard to read the linked page when your isp is being a pain in the ass and won't let you go to the Fringe site :P

Well I'll let you get away with it this time, but don't let it happen again

Actually, depending on exactly what your ISP is doing that stops you getting there, you might try Coral, just insert .nyud.net:8090 immediately after the domain name of the site you want to see: http://www.melbournefringe.com.au.ny...etevent&id=305

Fringe kicks off tomorrow dudes and I'm hoping some off the Melbournites here will get around to some shows.

But for all those not too sure about it, for just a kick start?
Fringe Club's opening night is on Friday the 24th at the North Melbourne Town Hall. Special ticket prices apply and you'll get to check out the place.
It runs from six until three.
Come on down!

Channel Ten is insulting our intelligence twice.
Firstly there is no such word as 'bigness'. And is sounds stupid in your ads. Stop using it.
Secondly, Rove... well the above applies...
