So would everybody be on different flights (flying from different capital cities)? And still on tickets, is it possible to extend the ticket to be round the world?

Duhkha - you can buy whatever ticket you like (round the world, whatever), as long as its by the same airline we all use. What we did this year was fly from our individual cities on Cathay Pacific and met up half way for a stopover in Hong Kong. We then continued to London together. Following Edinburgh we pretty much did our own thing - Boof went home after London, I went to Germany for a week, Bec & Kali went to Spain, Italy and France...

So, for next year, what looks like happening is we all fly on Singapore Airlines and then meet up in Singapore for a one night (free) stopover.

Tentative dates are -
Flying from Syd/Melb/Bris, etc on Sat 30th July, one night stay in Singapore, then flying into London on afternoon of Sun 31st July.
The actual stay would be 3 nights stay in London, 4 weeks in Edinburgh, then another 4 nights in London.
Then flying back to our home cities from London on Sun 4th Sept (arriving back in Australia on the morning of Tues 6th Sept).

Of course, the dates of flying home, or indeed the length of 2nd stay in London is totally up to you.

Just letting you know that I've confirmed and negotiated a deal for anyone here who is contemplating doing this trip in 2005.

Like this year, we will be flying Cathay Pacific on 30th July with a free one night stopover in Hong Kong, which will be our meeting point from flying in via various capital cities. We will then proceed to London for arrival on evening of 31st July.

The added bonus (unlike this years trip) will be a $500 credit to be used on land arrangements. This will be used towards a Britrail pass to get to Edinburgh (approx $360), and the extra credit of $140 can be used to whatever else you wish - maybe a add-on Eurostar visit to Paris/Brussels after the Fringe with the Britrail pass, whatever????

The cost of all this comes to $2149 for the flight/railpass/stopover, plus approx $270 in taxes.

This is a discount of $200 off the actual advertised price of the package at travel agents.

Maybe this will convince some of you to save up extra hard and aim to make the trip
*looks at Leish who was going to spend just as much going to a Angel convention there this month*

I'm actually sorely tempted by this as I'm considering going to Edinburgh this year anyway. Is there a deadline to decide by?

I'm making the deadline 17th Nov - mainly as the airfare will need to be paid in full by 17th Dec (the whole $2149 + $270 in taxes). Of course, the earlier you get in the more its guaranteed to actually get a spot on the chosen flights and when booking you will need to be able to put down a $150 to secure.

you *know* I would, but I just don't think I can save up that much in that short a time.

*ponders asking parentals for a loan*

....like I need to owe them MORE money

and hey.. that angel convention would've been worth that and more ;P

i'll see how i go with the loan-asking-for. hehe. cross your fingers for me!
