Hi all Its only been a month since the return of the 2004 tour, however now is as good a time as any to ask if anyone is keen to do a trip to the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe festival. I've pretty much got it set in my mind that I'll be going back, so anyone want to join in the fun and save a bit of cash? The dates of the festival are 3rd Aug (start of previews) to 29th Aug. Factoring in approx. 3 days before and after in London, and also timezones, the dates of the trip would probably be 30th July to 2nd Sept. Costs would be much the same as this year per person... $1800 for airfare $1200 for 4 weeks Edinburgh accommodation in private apartment $300 for rail transport (4 day Britrail pass to get to and from Edinburgh) $300 for 6 days London accommodation in a B&B Total of $3600 approx (not including insurance, food or spending money) However, if theres more than 8 of us, the airfare will be cheaper and more than likely the accommodation as well. And before you freak at the $$$ above, take note that the accommodation is a significant saving as youth hostels in London are more expensive than the price I've quoted, and Edinburgh accommodation costs are usually 1.5 to double the price if you stay by yourself anywhere. I'll need to know all interested people by 14th November, and the airfare and rail ticket will be due on 8th Dec (approx $2100). The other costs wouldnt be due till May next year. If you have any questions, just ask me here, if you want to ask opinions about the trip ask Beckslee/Kali/Boof, and if you are interested, drop me a line at sharleen@comedylive.com.au.

not me, for reasons being a) not enough holidays (I'm in deficit already) b) I'll be living on my own at that time c) I haven't paid for all of this year's trip yet d) my body may well collapse if I tried to do that yearly

Bloody hell that sounds awesome! I’m not used to organising things so early though. I’m more of a last minute flurry, sleep on the street cos there is no accommodation left or leaving it up to my friends to organise kinda person... Mind you I was planning to go back to the Edinburgh Festival next year, but I would be going travelling with my sister and a couple of friends after the festival... so can individual return flights be changed or is it kinda a set deal?

And Boof, you're right. The cheapest airfare on offer right now is about $2070 (Singapore Airlines earlybird which I've sent an enquiry for in order to price), but it also includes $300 spending money which could be used towards the Britrail pass. Basically, it works out about the same. The only thing thats gone up is the flight taxes, which are $200 now. I figure we'll have a huge group of people in 2006, so I might even organise a flat to stay in for 2005 and 2006 at the same time...

I'm hoping to get to Edinburgh next year. Not sure for how long though. I went in both 2002 and 2003 although it wasn't such a big trip as I was living in London at the time. I went for a week both times and felt as if it wasn't enough... there were heaps of shows I didn't have time to see. If I make it, I'd love to meet up with people!
