I've been reading about all these laughter clubs that are suddenly the "cool new thing" and i've come to the conclusion- MOSH could be defined as a laughter club in itself. Does anyone have an opinion on this and does this mean we get a government grant?

the only problem i have with it is that i refuse to be made to laugh. if i dun wanna, i won't simple as that. and i also do have issues with people who find it so hard to laugh that they need to be taught.

Yeah, these clubs are absolutely pointless. If you're not laughing for any reason other than forcing yourself to by choice, surely most of the benefits (psychological, even physical) would be gone. The unexpected laugh is one of the most important reasons I see comedy, so these clubs make no sense to me at all! DOIE!

Agreed...I see comedy as randomness/unexpectedness. Laughing at nothing is dumb.

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! *stop* I suck at explaining things...if anyone else knows what I'm talking about, please help. [/dickheadtimmy]

i started laughing at vax laughing ![]() i think laughter groups sound like a lot of fun. laughing at people laughing is something that only happens in groups anyway, so why not have a scheduled cack?

According to Laugh Yoga doctrine, the body can't actually tell the difference between actual spontaneous laughing and forced laughing, so the benefits will be the same. They break laughter into three groups (well, they did when I saw them in action): the ho ho hos, the ha ha has and the hee hee hees. Each type of laugh springs from a different part of the body (ho ho from down low, hee hee from up high) and has different benefits. And thanks to the herd mentality, when everyone else is laughing you tend to become actually amused and you find yourself joining in. But it's the same with any type of mass activity that cults endulge in.

I find the whole movement really quite intrigueing. I've never been myself, but personally view the activity as a sort of daggy and strict relative of Flash Mobs. Sure, the spontaneity is gone, but in the end the whole purpose is to brighten our otherwise mundane lives. Teaching someone (or indeed forcing yourself) to laugh may seem absurd, but when it comes to health benefits, surely it's not unlike taking vitamin/mineral supplements. No-one (that I know of) takes them because they love the taste of pills, they take them to supplement something lacking in their diet. As with laughter clubs supplementing laughter in members lives. No...I haven't had a good laugh for quite some time.
