Now if you dont have a clue who Danny Wallace is, let me tell you...

He was a man who started the whole "Are you Dave Gorman" Adventure by drunkandly challanging Dave to find other Dave Gormans. He was also a man who accidently started his own cult "Join Me" and has people all over the world doing random acts of kindness on a Friday.

Now what is he up too? Well the logical next step! He is starting his own country!

He is starting a cyber nation and wants citzens to join. So, if you want to be apart to "shape a truly inspiring new nation"

My fellow countryperson! I said (something)land, (something) being an inappropriate adjective. We have precedents - Greenland isn't green, Iceland isn't covered in ice, and Swaziland isn't overrun with Swazis.

I was making that very point to a friend the other day. England isn't covered in Eng's... etc There was one we discoved that was right. I've forgetten what it was now tho....

Probably one of:
Finland - Certainly full of Finns, but that doesn't count since it's a circular reference. I don't know if they have some special affinity with the fish parts.
Greenland - Not green, mostly icy.
Iceland - Not as icy as you might think, much greener than Greenland.
Ireland - There is ire in Ireland, but probably not more per capita than anywhere else.
Netherlands - I don't know what they reckon they're beneath, maybe they just enjoy puns about nether-regions.
Holland - Holland doesn't get to play, it's just the Netherlands taking a second bite of the cherry after they realised "Netherlands" isn't the gold-mine of puns they'd hoped for. What's "hol" anyway?
New Zealand - Geologically speaking, New Zealand is probably much older than the old Zealand, which is an island off the coast of...the bloody Netherlands - these people just don't give up. I don't know if either place has much zeal, or even zea for that matter.
Poland - Oh yeah, you've never seen so much Po. All their roads have names like "Telltale Heart Street" and "Raven Lane".
Swaziland - Like ABBA tribute band BABBA, this Switzerland tribute country had to take a name slightly different to their idols to avoid trademark infringement. They've tried to make the name relevant, the people and their language are also "Swazi".
Switzerland - Not sure what they did to deserve their own tribute country, they're as bad as Finland with their circular references. Not sure where the name came from, maybe a switzer is some kind of tangy, sherbet-filled candy they all enjoy.
Thailand - another circular reference - full of Thais only because they're named after the country. I believe the name actually started out as Thighland until an uprising of "breast men" (and women) demanded a change.

Actually, about 90% of the population in Swaziland are from the Swazi tribe.

Er ... yes it is ... except 'Eng' got changed to 'Angle' and then those pesky Saxons came and threw their weight around ... and now it's chock-a-block full of Anglo Saxons. And the occasional lost Swazi.

I'm a Joinee and also turned up at Flinders St when Danny was over here. Was in Melbourne anyway to see a show (can't remember what it was) and trotted along. I'm in the group photo that's on Danny's website but you can't see me - I was stuck behind a tall person in the front row.

PS Also a citizen. I've volunteered for the position of Australian ambassador. I want to issue passports and visas (for a fee, of course! Chocolate goes down well)

I'm a Joinee too! I met Danny at a bookreading in England last year (wow... it was almost exactly a year ago! That's weird!) I love Danny so much, he's the best. Well............. he's certainly right up there.

I too am a citizen. Yay! I suggested that we call the country Frank.

Here's one for Moshers who have access to Foxtel.

Starting next Monday (20/2) at 8pm on the Lifestyle Channel (why this channel, I have no idea!) is a series called "How to start your own country".

It features Danny & his new country project. He visits Sealand to get advice from Prince Regal Micheal, researches Moon Real Estate & explores invasion as a technique of starting a country.

Definitely worth a look!
