CNNNN came out on DVD. I'd imagine War on Everything will come out on DVD if it runs for a full season.

I went to the taping last night. Being at the taping was exactly like watching the show but you get all the stuff ups too. So it was a bit meh.

But watching it tonight, i thought it was still fairly funny. Most of the sketches are pretty funny, especially on tonight's where chas was hosting the nappysan challenge and taking it straight to nappysan offices.

This is the only show i watch each week nowadays so i'm giving it some more thumbs up

It's worth going to the taping for the rare occasions that Doug Bayne appears to prepare for a special effect. granted...this has only happened once thus far.

The week before last when the show ended with an exploding cake, there were no explosives used. Those at the taping got the pleasure of seeing Mephisto run onto the set and smash the cake with a green cricket bat which was later edited out. Twas the highlight of the series for me.

He does the graphics, as he did for The Chaser Decides.

The bit where they made Phil Ruddock look like an absolute dick tonight was awesome, but I was offended by the segment where one of them walked into shops wearing a stocking over his head. He seriously scared some of those shop attendants. That's some fucked up shit.

But the people who they filmed would have had to sign a release allowing it to be shown, so they can’t have been too upset by it…

It was a bit mean, but I think it was a step down from the sort of things people do on candid camera shows, things like Punk'd. There were plenty of clues that something funny was going on (the camera guy following the guy with the stocking would be a start) and what they got was a bunch of knee-jerk reactions to the sight of someone with a stocking on his head, which would have been followed, a little later, by the thought "hang on, he didn't have a gun, or a knife...but he did have a cameraman..."

And like Playm8 said, if they were that scared or pissed off, they could have refused to let the footage air.

"Channel 9: Still the One for journalistic prostitution."

A cameraman is not exactly a guarantee of safety. They wouldn't be the first criminals to think filming their crime is a great idea. Reeeeally not a good idea to be doing it in shops.
Though the two guys in the mobile phone store (?) running away from Chris and abandoning their female co-worker were all class.

Has anyone actually heard that the Chaser guys do this?

There's LOTS of people who get put on TV without having signed over their permission. All the dodgy tradesmen on the current affairs shows, for a starter. And I doubt that Shane Warne gave permission for snippets of his latest sex tape to be shown.

I read over on their forum that Chas said for the stunt where they got cabbies to drive short distances, that they paid them money for being good sports and for signing the releases. So I'd assume that they did it for the rest of the footage they show of people too.

When I did my media degree, we were told under no circumstance were we allowed to film in public without permission - if we were to film in the streets we had to get permission from the council, if we were to film in commercial areas like hotels or pubs or shops, then the permission had to come from management. And we were only film students. I would be pretty surprised if they filmed in an area like that without anyone's permission. If they didn't seek permission, then the shop assistants would have every right to protest, otherwise it would go against the MEAA Code of Ethics.

Agreed.

I can't see the security guards featured each week in the Whatsit Busker segment signing release forms. Or Phil Ruddock.

Here is the discussion about it on the Chaser forum. Quite a few people against it, but most of them have only posted on that forum a few times. One of the posters there seems quite sure that the people in the shops would have been paid (extra, this time) and would have given their permission for the footage featuring them to be shown.

But a few people did bring up the valid point that the segment didn't have any satirical value, it was just Chris scaring people for kicks.
