Charles Firth co-hosts, Julian Morrow - executive producer of The Chaser's War On Everything is interviewed about the show and the DVD release and some vintage Chaser radio sketches are played. Oh, and we talk a bit about The Glass House.

that chaser special was great mate!!

right at the end, when charles firth is saying how he's glad the glasshouse has been axed because it's less competition for the chaser show, you can tell he really wanted to say he's glad the glasshouse has been axed because it was shit, and i just wanted to hear him say it!!! but alas no.

Harsh, and I don't agree that 1) The Glass House is as bad as you feel or that 2) Charles wanted to say that. The silliness was really down to the fact that Charles is a lefty hack from way back whose family is lefter-than-thou, but Charles himself realises that you have to have to behave like a conservative to get anything done. Ie like the Labor Right. ('Labor Right'? What next? 'A bit pregnant'? You either are or you aren't, surely.) So he's whole, 'don't give away my Left credentials, I'm a conservative' bit at the end was extra funny because I reckon it's truer than he or anyone else wants to admit. But that's just my opinion.

Not that I ever want this Radio Ha Ha thread to become a political forum.

And not that my reading of Charles Firth is necessarily accurate, or that he would agree with it. I'm just saying, his writing style and literary approach to politics reads like PJ O'Rourke, someone Charles has always been too lefter-than-thou to read, really. Again, my opinion.

But I'm so glad you enjoyed the episode, Laney; Charles, with whom I have had a long-running love-hate relationship since first having to put up with him in 1993 (ie I've jealous of his brilliance, talent and success for 13 years now) was the person I have had the best instantaneous rapport with in the studio. I enjoyed doing it a lot, too.

Hey guys, quick question. If 2GB were to cancel Radio Ha Ha at the end of the month, would you prefer to let it die, or would you download it from somewhere else? Dom.x.

(apologies to Wil)

download it from someone else of course. speaking as a comic, we need shows like radio haha. they give us help in promoting, lifting profile and giving comics opportunities we wouldn’t otherwise have.

Episode 51 is a belated celebration of the first fifty episodes of Radio Ha Ha . However, rather than a self-congratulatory back-slap-a-thon compilation of the best of what's been so far, it contains a bunch of great stuff that never quite fit in other (recent) episodes.

As such, it features co-hosts Charles Firth and Mr Ben Elwood, presenting, in addition to material by Arj Barker and Mike Wilmot, some stuff by Fry & Laurie and the Chaser Gang, plus some comedy nerdery regarding Monty Python's Flying Circus, Peter Sellers and Peter Cook in Beyond the Fringe.

Radio Ha Ha comes to an end after episode 52 this week.

If you want to show your support of the show and perhaps argue as to why it should continue to exist, feel free: email the powers that be. But keep it clean and civil.

Meanwhile, I'll attempt to keep podcasting a comedy show if indeed there is an audience for it. I'll post on this forum when there's a show and a website to download it from.

Cheers,
Dom

Episode 52 of Radio Ha Ha should be available later this evening (should the link fail to work then I'll fix it).

For this, the final Radio Ha Ha ( ), I'm joined by Julia Wilson as co-host, and we present comedy by Dan Walmsley, Janet McLeod (!!) and Dave Jory.

Enjoy.

Thanks to all the comics, venues, publicists, managers, copyright holders, comedy festival (and Comedy Festival) folk and listeners who made this a fun year; a big thank you to all the co-hosts, especially Tammy Tantschev.
