So far I've booked to see Flying Solo, Raw comedy state semi-finals, Puppet-Up and Laugh Boat. I'm planning to see another handful, but am yet to make any bookings.

It's a play written by Bruce Venables and Richard Fidler. I described a bit about it here: http://mosh.server101.com/vb/showthread.php?t=4644
Or you can check out the official site: http://flyingsolo.net.au/

I was quite impressed with the production. I'm a sucker for double entendre, so Noeline Brown's narration had me giggling. I'm also a sucker for random musical pieces, so I enjoyed Enda Markey singing Surgical Rubber Glove Love and Barry Quin singing Proper English Gentleman (Soixante Neuf)
Jacinta John plays 13, 18 and 30 year old masturbators one after the other to show amusing differences. Paula Duncan reminds us that the elderly can get their jollies too.
There is one section of audience participation...don't worry, you get to keep your pants on. The woman are encourage to join in the cheer "I am a proud masturbator!" Men are encouraged to shout "I am a wanker!"

The show is far from all encompassing on the topic of wanking and much of the historical content can be found in John Naish's 'Put What Where? - over 2000 years of bizarre sex advice.' Nonetheless, it's a great little production if you have $45 to spare. Or you can just sneak in to catch the final musical number Nuts and Bolts of Masturbation. Giant glow in the dark hands and genitalia are one thing, but in the words of Steve from Coupling "There are some places you just don't expect to see a face!"

How was Puppet Up?

WEnt to cracker night, always worth the money going, the line up, in order according to my memory, which can be checked on the comedy channel when its shown sometime in the future

Poor biance dye, the hostess, she tried to be funny and wasnt!! I felt a little sorry for her, a little out of her depth but she did try and i guess maybe expectations of her being funny was high, well u are at a comedy gala!!

First on, Tommy dean with new material, i saw him last year and his jokes were all new to me, always great observational humour, too bad he's not having any shows durng cracker

Then Danny Bhoy, with my friends saying was the best of the lot, he went on about our parliament for about 5-10 minutes, it was amazing!! Very witty

Sam Bowring, his jokes are dry and i think only certain people will appeciate his style of comedy and topics he brings up

Then Jackie Loeb, who was better than i thought, musical comedy done well, im going to see her show later

then Daniel Townes, who Biance Dye introduced as Sista SHE!!OPPS a stuff up!!
i love this guys sense of humour and sarcasm, too bad he only has one show in sydney, a day i cant make, but really worth seeing. He cant be considered a supporting act anymore, he really has become a great comedian in his own right

SISTA SHE, rapping to different types of music, not my type of comedy

THE break occurs and
RAchael Burger is on, i think heard her jokes before somewhere...........she not doing any shows at cracker either

Kent valentine with his story telling style of comedy, what would batman do is a interesting title for his show,

Gary Eck, with his impression of darth vader with a mug which was done well, you always get a laugh from him

Jordan raskopoulous, the one with the dominant claw, from the ronny johns hour, well a strange style of comedy, some people enjoyed it, some didnt but its a original style i havent seen before, he went through the different colours and had comments about each!! Still not as strange as Sam simmons

Gina Yashere, the last act , seemed to have the most time. How she related going a big poo to childbirth is hilarious!! i can see why the comedy store has her on for two weeks, she is worth seeing!!

I still find it strange that Tommy dean and rachel burger were on stage with no shows that i know of, i mean its the CRACKER NIGHT

Stand outs were Danny bhoy, daniel townes and Gina yashere,
honorable mention to jackie loeb!!

Suprised Ross noble didntdo his 10 minutes, maybe he is popular enough without needing to appear, not sure!! Same can be said about jimeoin

went for about 2 - 2.5 hours, worth the money, im going every year, which i have been anyway!!

Love @ fast sight with clint paddison

The play had a little bit of singing, some comedy, some which worked and some that didnt but there sure was a lot of energy from the performers!! The friends that i went with all enjoyed it

Clint Paddison, was heckled by his DAD!! That made it just that bit more funnier than it would of been without his father. He's improved a lot as a comedian, ive seen his material before but i still get a laugh out of it. Him imitating Vanilla Ice was the best part of his act

Before the show ends, its a 2 for one show, its worth a look

Saw DAve hughes at the laugh garage, the first time i have ever seen people line up around the corner to get in to watch a show at the laugh garage!!
His support act was great, just my poor memory cant remember his name, Matt O'??? but he was VERY good!! Even dave said he wont be back on tour with him because he is better than him!!

While that is to be debated, Dave hughes, with his stories and sarcasm will always make you laugh. Some of his material has been heard before but for myself, my expectations were too high!! I did have many laughs and my friends loved it, but myself i was never "in tears" laughing and for me, that what makes it a GREAT night compared to a GOOD night!! Still a enjoyable night but i think i was let down due to my own expectations

Two shows today, firstly life after cracker i think it was called
Its for seniors week, seniors got in for free, the rest of us was $10
They had a band playing,Tahir was the mc
started with kitty flanagan, then joel ozborn, rachel berger, tommy dean, gina yashere and lastly Jackie loeb

It was almost like a mini gala night, from the actually comedy cracker gala night, rachel berger had a extended version of her set, Tommy dean had bran new material, gina said most of her jokes from the cracker comedy gala night and jackie loeb the longest set.

Being chinese myself, i wondered why are there other chinese people here, who appeared to have poor english skills, did they come just because it was a free event? anyway it was a 1 hour 15 minutes of entertainment, those who cant afford to goto the gala night should goto this instead!!

puppetry of the penis, well my female friend LOVEd it, had Joel Ozborn as the support act, which was good, i always seem his as a support act but i think now hes got enough material to be a main act. He got plenty of laughs from the audience

but i did have a good laugh with puppetry, every one of there SHAPES had a laugh, some at first you got "well, what am i seeing" BUT something will happen afterwards that will make you go OH YEAH I UNDERSTAND NOW!! I guess "the hamburger" is there signature penis trick, and they actually havea book out on HOW TO DO there tricks, step by step guides!! They had the show on the big screen so people at the back could see and there is audience partcipation!! So whoever has a birthday should go, because they will pick YOU to be on stage, and u get a poloriod afterwards!!

Seeing it once is enough, i had a good laugh but not something i need or want to see again!! hahaha

JAckie Loeb, a sell out believe it or not, was what i expected. I had heard most of her jokes already from the gala night and from the life after cracker show but it was still entertaining. Im not usually a big fan of musical comedy but i enjoyed what Jackie had to offer.
She doesnt mind showing a bit of flesh, which im not sure is a good or bad thing. She takes the mickey out of herself, i really enjoyed her insight into doing "corporate gigs" but whether its just a routine or her real experiences i will never know!!
When i went, i beleive i heard that you could watch the next show for free, but i didnt hear it clearly and had to go anyway, so those who read this half an hour before JAckie's show tonight but be in for a treat!!

The deal was if you saw Jackie you could see Dave Jory for half price afterwards, but Moshers had already been offered that option…

At the riverside theatre

The popular mechanicals, 5 people readying themselves for a play to perform to the king, should of been a kids show to be honest. I saw a woman with her daughter, they daughter was enjoying it, but the one or two bits of MATURE content made the mother cover her daughters eyes!! A few laughs but not for me,is it because of the shakespearen words i didnt like it? Others in the audience enjoyed it

CORRINE GRANT< opps sorry Corrine for turning up late, and thanks for giving my friend a 1996 new zealand newspaper as a prize!! I dont think i missed much, her show is almost like having a one to one conversation with her!! there was a few laughs, a insight into her HOARDING behaviour, and giveaways of the stuff she is hoarding at the end. Worth a look, it wont be the funniest show you see but it will be one of the most intimate

I watched Puppet Up! last Thursday. It's a bit of a hit and miss show, but well worth seeing if you're a Henson fan. (Mmmm....puppets)
It's difficult to tell just how much of the show is improvised. There is one section where two of the puppeteers have to improvise a job orientation presentation based on whatever occupation is called out from the audience and a random slide show of unrelated photos. On the night I attended there was some kind of technical hitch and the photos were the same as the previous night, so the puppeteers knew what image was about to be shown and planned ahead. Many of the other sections seemed very similarly planned.
There was also a bit of a cultural barrier, with some of the audience suggestions being rejected because the American performers had never heard of them. When asked for a celebrity someone called out 'Heather Mills'. I'm still suprised that the host had no idea who she was, instead going with the droll second suggestion, Britney Spears.
Overall I was impressed with the show particularly the fairytale rap about the naughty carrot.

Last night I caught The Dellusionists, the best of Australian uni revues. The overall show wasn't as good as previous similar productions (Eskimos With Poleroids, later evolving to the Ronnie Johns Half Hour) but the good skits definatly made up for the lesser few. My personal favourite was a man asking Jesus to build a coffin for his dead mother.
Jesus: But I'm more than a carpenter. I'm the messiah!
Man: Hey, I enjoy fishing, but I'm a locksmith by trade. When a someone asks me to make them a key, I don't hand them a fish.

There's also a few shakespearean pieces, my favourite being where the King points out to his servent that he can in fact hear the servant's plotting soliliquays.
