It's hilaaaaaarious.
(And no, my opinion was not at all influenced by Carrie's boobies.)

I'm thinking Petespace isn't going to last many more shows though. I really didn't think it was going to be an ongoing segment.

Carrie's boobs were the only thing worth watching her segment for. I suppose for most, that's a good enough reason.

I walked away for Petespace. I've only got the tellie on so i can listen for when Danny Bhoy comes on.

Hey guys,

Can someone tell me what happened after the first ten minutes of Rove last night please? (ie after they came back from their first ad break)

Cause I taped it for the right time but I only got the first ten minutes and a full hour of the biggest loser which I didn't want.

Thanks.

Amities,

Is it me but is every segment very short, yet the show runs overtime all the time!! Are there more ads on than before?

I saw Danny bhoy last week and his stand up, more than half of it was new material, that guy is talented!!

did Carrie REALLY need to come to work, having a wedding engagement? Are your right LANEY, her boobs were the standout!!

Whats the best thing about dating a homeless girl? You can drop her off anywhere

Dave hughes doesn't have a slow voice anymore. Not really. He used to take five minutes to say one sentence. He seems more... polished

I think he raced through his segment on Sunday because he was visibly nervous with his mum there. Anyone would be if they were reusing all their old material bagging her & she was a couple of metres away!

One thing that annoys me about this year's format is the way that they have made Carrie become a "real person" after her segment & have her join the chat on the couch. It was much more effective when she was only a sarcastic, one dimensional newsreader. When she chats as her real self, it shows you how much the material written for her defined her role on the show.

her segment wasn't really funny... I've seen that done much better. The headlines at the end of the Glasshouse for example.

Rove/Rove's producers have been branded racist by... *shudders and types it anyway*... Xzibit. Rove's race row.
Basically he was meant to be on the show Sunday night with Michael Buble but backed out at the last minute because he didn't want his song "butchered" or something. The producers tried to work with him but eventually he left because he was only going to be given 42 seconds (allegedly) and they made comments he interpreted as racist but which were clearly more a comment on him being a dumb as fuck rapper. That a lot of dumb as fuck rappers happen to be black doesn't make it racist. :P

Such a shame Rove's not on again until Sunday because it would have been funny if it was on tonight.

XZibit's MySpace. The daily blog where he calls Rove a racist seems to have been deleted.

Michael Buble has spoken out in defence of Rove and XZibit has said on his blog that the never meant that Rove himself was racist (and indeed never even met him) but that the show 'Rove' was racist.

It reminds me a little of this. "They disagree with me therefore they must be a racist/homophobe/whatever!"

I kept a copy of what Xzibit wrote in the entry that disappeared when I posted about it on my blog:

BULLSHIT from the jump! I tried to meet them halfway by letting them know my songs are not to be butchered and I didnt feel like that was a good representation for the music I love and create. “lets do something else” long story short we get it all worked out and then the gopher comes back and says ” we only have 42 seconds for the entire thing, our demographics on our show wont allow 1minute of rapping…” then she says some shit.
“you know we came a long way just having you on the program..” I got up and thanked her for the time and wonderful hospitality and went out the front door hopped in my shit and rolled out. keep it G people. FUCK THAT DUMB SHIT. I got real work to do. peace.

And yeah it all seems to have come from the Rove people pointing out that his music is not exactly what they usually have on the show, which he took to mean they don't want blacks on the show. Because he's an idiot.

Having lived in the US South perhaps I can shed some light on what the rapper might have been thinking. I can see the Rove people saying something like, "We don't usually have your type of music on the show." (Emphasis mine.) "Your type of music" is generally code for racist bullshit in the US.

After you hear the code, the conversation in your head goes... "Your type of music? What did they mean by that? Oh, I get it. They mean black music or probably more to the point, n*gger music." (Please forgive the N-word. I don't use it normally. However, I am trying to make a point here.)

I am sure that the Rove people simply meant RAP music, and they meant nothing racist by it. However, after years of conditioning when you hear comments like that, you automatically think they are talking in racist code. It is a sad state of affairs, but racism is alive and well in the US.

This is all speculation, and I don't know the rapper in question personally. It just seems there was a misunderstanding. Rove was trying to widen what his audience would accept, and it was taken as a token, racist thing. I am glad that the post was removed.
