Did anyone catch the debut of The Hollowmen last night?

From ABC's website:

Quote:
"The Hollowmen is a comedy-drama set in the offices of the Central policy Unit, a special think tank personally set up by the Prime Minister to help him in the most important job of all - getting re-elected.
Their brief is 'long term vision'; to stop worrying about tomorrow's headlines, and focus on next week's."
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would have... Mostly because it's been a while since I've seen the Working Dog crew work on something non-mainstream. I'd describe it as a cross between The Games and Absolute Power, although the similarity to Frontline is obviously there too.

I read some reviews earlier about this show this week. It sounded good, but I didn't have a TV last night. So hopefully I'll be able to catch it up when I get home and watch it. I was excited because until I read the article in the paper, I hadn't heard anything about this production. But I'm excited to have Working Dog back on the screens.

Yeah, I'd heard nothing about it at all until I saw an ad for it the day it debuted.

I don't think it's their best work. It's certainly not as groundbreaking as Frontline, or even quite as cutting as the title 'Hollowmen' would suggest it should be.

It will also inevitably be compared to 'Yes, Minister' and you really want to have an EXCEPTIONALLY brilliant show if you're going to wander into that territory. 'Hollowmen' wasn't brilliant.

I'll see how it develops.

I must say, I really enjoyed it - particularly the way they ridiculed the latest "raft" of political language. Plus, anything that uses the tune, 'North by North' by Kiwi band, The Bats, gets a big thumbs up in my book! Will be tuning in again. P

I watched part of the first ep last night. I didn't watch all of it because I wasn't that impressed.
