Any word if both stores will be taken over by new owners?

The renovations at Parramatta are too nice to go to waste...or back to the Laugh Garage. :-/

i heard it was laugh garage. not overly filled with enthusiasm with that.

just wait people till i win the lottery and then i will run a comedy venue the way it should be run.

then take over the comedy festival and shove susan provan out on her arse and make it what it used to be. about comedy. not profit.

Going off-topic... new Tripod Christmas shows in Sydney have just been announced. They're at the Spiegeltent in the Sydney Opera House forecourt 4 - 7 November. Tickets on sale tomorrow, unless you're a subscriber to the Opera House's e-newsletter (like myself), in which case they went on sale today. And, yep, I've already bought mine.

The Parramatta venue is now up for lease. I walked past during my lunch break and there was a large Raine & Horne sign over the window listing a venue suitable for a theatre or restaurant.

Any takers?

not from me, it was doomed to fail in that location, in fact in that suburb from the start.

church street is for eating italian food while trying to hold a conversation while 'fully sic' bros with their hotted up WRX's scream up and down the 300 metres of road there to show off their incredibly small penises. with rat's tails. their heads have rats tails, not their penises

I received this message from the Axis of Awesome (Facebook group) last night:

Quote:
Hi Peoples

Just letting you all know about a very special upcoming gig. Details are:

Oct 11th, 8.30pm
The Sydney Comedy Store, Moore Park (yes, the same Comedy Store that recently closed down)

It's a showcase chock full of great acts, like the Axis, Julia Morris, Dave Jory, Chris Radburn, Sally Kimpton and more. Plus more!

Tickets are really really limited, and cost only 25 Earth Dollars. To book, call 02 9020 6966 - but be quick, as tickets are selling quicker than plankton in WhaleTown*
I did a search for the phone number and ended up at Cracker Comedy where I found this:

Quote:
In welcome news in a world filled with heralds of doom and gloom, Star 100 Entertainment is showcasing its awesome homegrown stable of hilarious acts in a one night only spectacular sure to give you a comedy fix like no other.
What is most interesting however is that the showcase is being staged at the iconic Comedy Store at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park. As many Sydneycomedy fans will know, the iconic Store reluctantly shut its doors a couple of months ago.
Rumours of its reopening have persisted and Star 100's showcase (which features Cracker favourites including: the Axis of Awesome (just back from Edinburgh with rave reviews), Steve Philp, (award winning) Amelia J Hunter, Chris Radburn, Paresh Khandha, Sally Kimpton and Brett Nichols and local comedy icons Jackie Loeb and special guest MC Lady Julia Morris) may be pointing to something more permanent (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
Watch this space....

I'm intrigued.

Having received an email from "Sydney Comedy Store" with enmoretheatre.com.au in the reply email address, I'm now quite certain Cracker/Enmore Theatre have taken over.

Don't suppose anyone has any official-ish news or insider gossip?
