New Show: The 7pm Project

Starting July 20th and co-hosted by Dave Hughes and Charlie Pickering, The 7pm Project will be looking at the day's news in front of a live studio audience, though presumably not live to air.

Also on the show will be Carrie Bickmore presenting the actual news, Ruby Rose covering music news and James Mathison on media and sport stories.

Doesn't sound like a comedy show as such but it also doesn't sound like it'll be taking things seriously all the time - they do have comedians hosting, after all. Thus it's in the Comedy forum, not Off Topic.

July 20th is a fair ways off yet... but who's interested in watching already?

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

I'll give it a look. I love Charlie Pickering, Dave Hughes and Carrie Bickmore so it has potential. It's produced by Rove, so it could be good!! Time will tell!!

It's produced by Rove, so it's probably going to be bad.

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

i finally saw the ad for this on tellie. doesnt' look so bad. it'll be good if it's on every day though too, so hopefully i'll be able to catch it at some point. Talking about Your Generation and seeing lots of Charlie has made me remember how much i like him.

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

I've seen an ad where James is flailing wildly at Carrie about Mitchell Johnson's girlfriend.
Hopefully this'll be another thing Ch10 will have available on their website. But I'm looking forward to it starting. Ads have been pretty good so far, looks almost Panel-y in setup.

Starts next Monday!

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

This starts TONIGHT! Don't forget!

Ruby Rose will be interviewing Sienna Miller, one of the stars of the new G.I. Joe movie.
And I guess they'll talk a bunch of crap about the news and stuff. Watch it and find out and come here and discuss.

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

Thoughts?

I wasn’t disappointed, but that’s because I was not impressed by the ads.
I can’t quite work out what balance of comedy vs news they’re aiming for (or if they even know that themselves.)
Charlie Pickering and James Mathison were entertaining. Dave Hughes continues to grate my nerves. Ruby Rose and Carrie Bickmore were satisfactory.

I’m not sure if I’ll continue watching to see if it improves. I want to support Channel Ten’s decision to try something new, but it really didn’t do anything for me. Maybe I’ll just flick the people-meter on and wander out of the room each night…

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

I didn't think much of Charlie's hosting. Hughesy was passably funny but not outstanding. Thought Carrie was brilliant, as always. Though I do miss her cracking gags during the news. I keep waiting for punchlines...
Thought Ruby's interview, other than the camera work, was good. Didn't get all serious, just kept it short and fun and oh my, so much pretty in that room.

James Mathison wasn't really there long enough to say much about him. Did okay though I thought.

Am still watching, found it pretty funny and it's a half hour a night. Not a huge time commitment.

I was the same, I was waiting for the funny remarks and they never came.

I think they were nervous, especially Charlie Pickering, but give them time and they should relax. Charlie's great on Talking Bout Your Generation, he just needs to relax.

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

Only been able to catch about 1.5 episodes of this show. S'okay so far. Not great, not bad. I think Carrie is fairly dull and never has anything funny or interesting to say and the only ones making all the funnies are Hughsy and Charlie.

Haven't seen bug eyed James Mathison on it yet. Is he only on certain days? And is Ruby Rose only on certain days too? Hope so, i'm sick of her already.

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

Ruby and James are only on sometimes, yes. I like them both so I find this to be a sad thing. :P

Think they need to pick their "live cross" guests a bit more carefully. They've all been dull or of dubious mental capacity. Like Laurie Lawrence last night, who was never really all there anyway but has clearly deteriorated in recent years. World records are the strawberries in strawberries and cream? What the hell, man.

Hughesy looked terribly awkward when forced to say something about Kyle Sandilands last night.

I noticed that too...he looked like he really wanted to go to town on him, but realised what time slot he's now in. I thought he should have, Kyle deserves everything he gets...tosser!!! But that's another topic all together.

Re: New Show: The 7pm Project

So are people still watching this? I have been. Think Charlie's been settling into his "host" role a bit more. Dave still gets a little lost from time to time still.
Still not sold on the Skype-chat thing. They've all been dud guests so far.

And Jane Hall last week said something incredibly stupid. She essentially said people deserve to be stalked and harassed for being out there on Twitter.
And she's on again tonight! Hrmmmmm...
