| Member | If it makes you guys feel any better... I've lived in Melbourne all my life. I could have seen WoE whenever. I'm always near the Princess Theatre. It's where PriceWaterHouse is located. And that's where I'm hoping to get a job. But I didn't. And I'm not going to. I'm not too fussed. I'm sure people will get over it soon. There are many other good musicals coming up. Despite studying it for VCE English and having Lisa McCune in it, I do want to see Cabaret. And there's Oliver too. There are many opportunities to see Paul at various other performances next year I would imagine. | ||

As another post said, if you look at all the musical theatre that has been on this year, let alone what is on at the moment, then the interest is too dispersed, coz the people who would go to witches probably want to go to oliver and went to mama mia and caberet is coming up, and there have been others. As oliver and witches are both by cameron macintosh then you could argue that it is their own fault that the popularity waned. I also know of a few people who like musical theatre but when they saw the cast they kind of laughed and went no way, so they have probably attracked as many to the musical as they have turned away because of their casting. What I am trying to say is that I am not surprised that it is not touring, and I am not surprised that it is closing early

Many places, including Melbourne, don't get Musicals that are appearing elsewhere - it's only now that you're complaining because Paul McDermott happens to be in one of them. It takes a lot of time, money and effort to tour a show. As a frequent musical goer and musical performer, I understand these things. For those of you who have seen Witches Of Eastwick, you understand how much mechanics and props they would have to transport; it would have cost Jacobsen Entertainment shitloads to transport the set down from the West End. They had to find a market where they knew the musical would go well, and Melbourne was that market. If they believe that the musical won't go as well in other states, especially if they're scrounging around for money, then they won't take it there. I do feel dreadfully sorry for those that have not seen WoE, even though they want to. It was a great show. But please do understand there is more to it than the desparation of a few hundred people scattered Australia wide.

| MOSH Veteran | It's a sad story of pain and suffering indeed... And althought BPA5 is right that we just have to move on... who's complaining? I thought this was more of a discussion myself...As for complaining because this one happens to have Paul McDermott, may i draw reference to one of my earlier messages referring to Andrew Daddo... and the fact that Canberra never gets anything that performs anywhere... If it's going to be in Sydney, it's not going to be here... And the sad thing is that Canberra is the kind of place that would appreciate it. But hey... what more can i do but continue with my own little meaningless existence and enjoy actually performing once more and having a good time with my otherwise uneventful life ![]() | ||

| MOSH Veteran | Barryboy: Don't get me wrong... I love Canberra... wouldn't want to live anywhere else... But the sad truth of the matter is that Canberra is shit as far as theatre goes... major productions anyway. There is always something to see, the artistic involvement is fantastic and there are many different theatre groups doing many different things... But the big ones never come this way, excluding the occasional show that is under the big top, but it's not as good. Canberra does not even get Comedy Festival Road show... even Wagga got the road show... but Canberra... Naaa... make them travel if they want to see anything!!! Stupid bastards don't think we're worth the effort to entertain... Noooo... not even good enough for a regular standup room... why? because people in Canberra do not want to see beginners (other than the Uni students) because they're all too stuck up to give anyone new a chance!!!! Otherwise... I love Canberra... ![]() | ||

And yes, I am just venting frustration. I do have a basic understanding of costs for a show travelling, as I expect most people do.

| MOSH Veteran | ok, i feel alot better after my pissing and moaning of yesterday! Its good to know that im not the only one getting all busted up just coz some musical isnt gunna tour. And yeah it will cost me more than $250.00 to get there (im not really sure how much i just sorta got a number stuck in my head and went with it - foolish mortal!) I dont really care how much it cost me, i just dont want to go to Melbourne alone, and i cant seem to convince anybody to go with me (useless friends and family. My sister who will usually go anywhere with me, dragged me to a stupid star wars exhibition which i really dont care about wont go with me) Also, the two week deadline doesnt help | ||
