The Inauguration of Barack Obama as America's next President

For those curious as I was, Obama's inauguration will be broadcast live on Ch9 starting at 10.55pm on Tuesday night. The telecast is scheduled to end at 5.30am so if, like me, you want to watch the whole thing? Get your recording devices ready. Or be prepared for an extraordinarily long night.

I've never watched an inauguration before. I expect there'll be long periods of utter boredom with the Ch9 talking heads filling in the dead air.

But it's not too often you see history being made.

Anyone else going to tune in?

I doubt I'll be watching it, although I suspect someone in the house will have it on the telly, so I'll see bits.

I will be hanging out online with a bunch of USians, which should be fun.

Just found a bunch more times on other channels as well, it's not just Channel 9.

Ch9: 10.55pm-5.30am - Karl Stefanovic and Robert Penfold
Ch10: 1.30am-6am - Unknown at this stage
ABC: 3.25am-5am - Barrie Cassidy

SBS have Weather Watch. Apparently "six billion stories and counting" is not so true after all.

If I'm still awake when the Ch10 coverage starts I'll be seeing who they have. I detest Mike Amor and don't much care for Karl Stefanovic. And ABC will be taking it far too seriously and formal and stuff.

No sign of Karl Stefanovic on Ch9's coverage as yet. They're just running the ABC News coverage in place of local stuff.
Diane Sawyer looks very different to the last time I saw her in anything. And Santita Jackson has CRAZYHAIR.

And the number of people who're already waiting to see the inauguration is mind boggling. And most of them won't get to see it with their own eyes anyway, some are a long long long way away.
They're all very excited though. And seemingly very cold.
