The other guest last night was Vivian Schenker, from Radio National...does NO ONE visit my site? *g*
(www.theglasshouse.cjb.net in case you don't know  )

To all the criticisms leveled at the show, I'd have to say, fair enough *G* But you also have to remember, they've only done four shows so far...give them a chance to get started, see how they manage as they settle into the new format.

Can anyone remember what GNW was like after four shows? I wasn't watching at the time, but I've seen early episodes, and, well, they needed some practice too

And remember that as far as TV hosting goes, only Corinne has had a fair amount of experience with that. And it would take a lot more than 4 shows + 1 pilot for Wil and Dave to get into the swing of things. I think they're doing a great job though, at settling into the role of hosting/co-hosting. :) *chucks her 2 cents into the pile*

well just to be contorversial, i thought that the sbs chick was MUCH better than clio. she didnt start every comment with, to be serious a moment, she only did it when the topic was winding down. i thought she fit in fairly well considering she's obviously not a comedian, and she didnt try too hard to be one which was good.
i think that Wil's settling into host role much more, and that Dave was funnier this week. Corrines gorgeous, funny and intelligent. Nuff said. the valentine guy was good, but not a shade near Charlie. Looking forward to drooling *ahem* seeing you on the box again. :)

God I am so sick of you children having a go at anyone who isn't one of your favourite boy comics. *Constantly refering to Vivian Schenka as "That women" is offensive - you are allowed your opinions regarding her performance but at least have the deceny to refer to her by name.
And as for slagging Wil off for reading the autocue - why don't you get a talent of your own before you have a go at others.

And I am sick of people making huge generalisations when it comes to MOSH and the people who frequent it. I agree wholeheartedly with your comment that it would be more respectful to refer to comics by their names (this also refers to other reviews I've read recently where people have been referred to as "that guy", "some guy in a suit" etc); the least people could do is find out their names and use them.

[u:post_uid0]However[/u:post_uid0], I don't think there is any need to be condescending and to call us all "you children"... and also the comment about "favourite boy comics" is extremely and unnecessarily patronising. :meh:

Her name's actually Vivian Schenker, not Schenka, and I quite liked her. I thought she was funny, and I was thrilled to see another intelligent woman on TV, since there aren't enough.

And I think Wil's doing amazingly well considering how little experience he's had so far.

Try not to generalise, particularly when it comes to criticising the behaviour of people on a message board like MOSH. Not everyone here is the same.

And if you ARE going to criticise, it helps if you don't make a mistake in the middle of it....

I'm going to assume you're not referring to me, because firstly I'm not a child, secondly 'boy comics' are hardly my favourites... However, I did refer to her as 'the female guest'. Personally, this was because I quite frankly couldn't be [i:post_uid0]fucked[/i:post_uid0] remembering her name, as she didn't say anything worth me actually remembering it.

Perhaps more importantly, as far as your criticism goes - it's Vivian [i:post_uid0][b:post_uid0]Schenker[/b:post_uid0][/i:post_uid0].
If you want to get all uppity about people not remembering someone's name, the least you could do is spell it properly.

[Edited to add the following]

I'm sure Ms Schenker is quite good at her [i:post_uid0]normal[/i:post_uid0] job, I just don't think she had anything to contribute to The Glasshouse. Same as I bagged Dave Hughes in the first episode that went to air. Just because someone criticises [i:post_uid0]one[/i:post_uid0] performance, doesn't mean anything in the wider picture. It's similar to my saying The Edinburgh Years (by DAAS) was pathetic, in my opinion. That doesn't mean I think everything DAAS ever did was shit, and so forth.

I see many people praising the efforts of many women comedians - heck, female comedians (and women who'd like to be comedians) visit the board. They don't get slagged off because they're not Wil/Rove/Dave/Pete/Paul/etc. If they get slagged, it's because they suck, [i:post_uid0]in that person's opinion.[/i:post_uid0]

Bah, I feel a ROAN post coming on....

Hehe, I know this is kind of off the topic of this post, but, ####, the board *is* named after this...

Does anyone else have Paul saying [i:post_uid0]"I'm not a child! I'm not a child! I'm a dynamic interesting and charasmatic human being... and that's not just the cocaine talking!"[/i:post_uid0] (or paraphrased, I haven't listened to my tape for ages) from Mosh running through their heads after reading the above few posts?

Just me then? *crawls back under rock*
