hoorah! I spoke to Ted, he said it was going to be a Big Gig type thing. I think he was just talking about the content though, not the audience thing.

but hoorah nontheless!

Awesome! Wish it said when it would start airing though.
And I wonder if this will be good enough to keep this forum open...

Hopefully Ted's show will be one of these, but even if not, 20-25 ABC shows being "vodcast" (I hate that term...) is pretty darn good.

YAY!!!!

Great to see the demise of the glasshouse hasn't stopped Ted from producing more comedy.

Go the new show and the chasers!

May they kick the right butts! (haha)

There's a story from November with some more vague details about the show here on the ABC News website.

ABC television's axed The Glass House program will also be replaced with a new comedy show next year.

Mr Dalton says the new show will be an hour-long variety program that will showcase emerging comic talent and that The Glass House had run its course.

"We are going to do a new show," he said.

"It's with Ted Robinson who actually produced The Glass House and produced also shows such as The Big Gig many years ago.

"This will be an hour-long show, it will be variety, it'll feature music, it will be topical, it will have satire in it, I think it will be very good, I'm very confident about it."
Sounds like Good News Week as well, without the quiz part.

According to Wikipedia, it look slike Paul could be involved somehow.

"Paul is currently working on a new (currently untitled) comedy show produced by Ted Robinson. The show is of a variety show format, and the pilot is currently in production (expected to screen around April on the ABC)"

This was taken from Paul's page on Wikipedia.

Is it too much to ask, is it too much to hope, that Paul's hosting??? Did anyone go to the filming last week? Please tell us what happened? Or has Ted sworn you to secrecy??

There was a filming? Bloody hell, am I out of the loop or what...

Spoke to the folks at GNWTV. Didn't ask about cast details, but the remaining pilot taping is fully booked. Tickets are available for the first episode (presuming they get picked up) to be filmed on April 19th. 6.30pm-9pm (roughly) at ABC Studios, Ultimo (Sydney *g*). For tickets call the lovely office staff on (02) 93834741.

I'm not going cause I'm going to be in Melbourne *g* But if they do continue, it'll be taped weekly from then on, and I'm sure I'll get to a few here and there *g*

*does a little dance* Tim'n'Eddie! And if Sam Bowring's involved, I won't be surprised to see a lot of other Sydney comics getting spots.

Not fussed on the standing audience concept though. Done that once and my feet hurt before it was half over. And I know how long a taping can run when things go wrong.

But I do like the idea of a variety show with stand up and musical comedy and bands and stuff. A new Big Gig would be fantastic to see on tv. It's not an easy format to maintain for any length of time, but it can do wonders for promoting comedians who aren't receiving the sort of recognition they deserve.

I wonder who'll host? Or if there'll even be a host? Curious about the suggestion that Paul is joining the team of writers, too. If it's a show featuring comedians and bands and stuff, there's not a huge amount that would need to be scripted by the production team, most of it would be material the performers have developed.

Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.
