Reputation: Reputation Power: 0 | That's all a mystery - but rumour is that ABC want more 'control' in comedy shows. They were upset that The Sideshow didn't take on their suggestions, hence the axing. Whatever the shows are, I doubt there'd be the same acts, or quality. | ||

Never thought Sideshow would be considered a threat. It's pretty harmless to me. That is of course if the rumour is true. Love them both! hope at the very least to see Paul on TV again next year. Control? If they're making it themself, sure. But if they're hiring on outside companies to make the show then they ought to be stipulating such things as part of the contract, not poking them afterwards. Oh well, maybe they'll come up with something worth watching next year. Can't see any of the commercial channels buying Sideshow so I'd say the concept is dead for now. | |||

Coz normally I work till 10.30pm Saturdays (nursing home) so I never get to see it. But then turned it on about midnight and was like wooo! Loved Flacco's bit tonight! That was the best. And was good seeing the threatening bears with the umbies haha. | ||

If nothing else, I think they may have burnt a few bridges in that final show *G* I also think that they picked slightly too narrow a focus for the show. As well as the actual regulars, they kept having to repeat guests over the course of the season. I wondered at the start if they weren't shooting themselves in the foot by picking such a specific theme. But I will miss the show. The tapings were fun, and the show was usually entertaining tv. My mother will miss Tripod in particular *G* I spoke to Ted at the last taping, said thanks and stuff, and he said he was hoping to have a new show up and running next year, so while Sideshow probably won't come back, we may yet see some familiar faces returning to our screens in 2008. | ||

Reputation: Reputation Power: 2 | Does anyone know what happened to the Kransky Sisters? The Sideshow's webpage said they would be on, but weren't. I also noticed that Courtney Gibson's name wasn't on the end (as Head of Comedy and Entertainment). Was she fired, did she quit, or did Ted have the final say and refused to put her name in the credits? Anyway, I'll miss the show, even if it wasn't the best show on earth, it was still enjoyable. I hope it's not long until Paul, Tripod and Flacco are back on our screens!! Is it too late to start a "Bring Back Good News Week" petition?? | ||

Reputation: Reputation Power: 2 | My little piece now Sideshow has gone: The circus has left town, Packed up the clowns, the carnies, the burlesque and the stars, The posters torn down, the circus tent folded and the bar exploded. Nothing left for us to take home except the memories. The laughter has gone and is replaced with tears, We lost our Sideshow and now everyone fears, For the longevity of shows on the ABC, How long will it last 1, 2 or 3? Thank you Flacco, Tripod, The Umbilical Brothers, Claire Hooper, the Band with Cameron and others, The Company of Strangers, New Moods in Intelligent Design, Who will now have to wait in the Centrelink line.* The Threatening Bears, The Sandman and more, And let’s not forget our dear Paul, Who hosted the show with a wink and a smile, He’ll have a break for a little while, Before he’ll be back of this I am sure, For nothing will stop our dear Paul. A big Thanks to GNWTV for all the hard work, You’ve put in this year and every year to make the year a bit brighter for those of us who love to laugh. As a fan I must say, I was hoping you wouldn’t have to go away, But I know GNWTV will be back next year one day. Good luck to you all and don’t loose heart, It’s not the end of the world and you’ll find other ways to practice your art. Lots of love and best wishes, And of course lots of kisses, Farewell Sideshow. I’m gonna miss you like a Junkie now you’re gone. *This may not be true for the people certainly not for the segments.
