Don't forget to mention if you do send her a letter that Paul has a girlfriend and supposedly a baby.

(I say supposedly because I don't know for certain if it is true or not and don't want to be accused of saying anything untrue.)

Oh and Spoofy- don't worry, it's this girl and others who allegedly have problems not you. Besides you can always delete the blasted emails.

Amities,

SS
I did write back to her I've done it tons of time, though this is the first time I've had a full name, address and mobile number, and I thought that was worth doing something.

Mythor - sorry about the address. Didn't think about removing it. So tired from my trip over to KI.....

Son: Is there anything we can do to get Buffy back?
Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?

I loved the Sideshow... I thought Paul was great, and the acts were incredibly original and quirky. The Carnival feel is great too. I hope the ABC keep it for a long time !!!

Is that Cameron Bruce singing the intro theme badly offkey? Hard to tell. It still sucks this week.
That UFO song (?) wasn't very good.
Flacco was alright. Tripod recycled another old song (Krap Karate with minor changes).
Claire Hooper was back with a slightly less boobtacular dress.
The English Gents were pretty good... if a wee bit homoerotic!

And Anh Do seems to have stolen a joke for his routine? The one about wanting to talk to a beautiful woman to get his wife to reappear. I've heard it before, not from him, and it's all over the internet, at least as far back as 2000. Since he did start his career before then I guess he has to be given the benefit of the doubt and just booed for using an even older bit than Tripod.
(earliest reference I could find was here for anyone interested.)

Yeah thats Cameron singing. Didn't notice it was off key. Isnt that how Cam always sings??

I quite liked the Sneaky Sound System, but I've heard the song before. They did it at the Robbie Williams concert in Adelaide. I was still toe tapping to it though.

The English Gents are great. Ive seen them before. Not sure they needed to undress but nice 6 packs!!

Tripod was okay, as was Claire on the desk, but I switched off her routine again. Anh was amusing that is the first time I have seen him.

Umbies went way to far with that joke. It got old when the truck started.

I hope the monologue of Paul's gets better. I know its not all his fault, but only the tank display got me giggling this week....

And I am still pissed off about the flood warnings across the screen in Adelaide. We know its raining, its been raining for 3 days now, I can testify to that since I have been drenched for most of it, and even changed in the car park of the Admirals Archs (in Kangaroo Island) because I was soaked to my bra and undies.

Claire's routine was good... but mostly because she did the MC Hammer dance.

I loved it! An improvement on last week. Hope it improves every week.

Loved the re written version of 'Goodnight Sweet Prince' to 'Goodnight Princess'. Very cute.

I hope the Tim and Rich don't mind Paul singing DAAS songs.

Looking forward to next week.

It's not being repeated on ABC2 either.
Doesn't seem to be one of the shows ABC is vodcasting so far, which is a shame.

I agree, it was better this week. Hopefully it will only get better still!!

Claire Hooper, needs to look up funny in the dictionary, because I don't think she knows what it means!

How beautiful did Paul sing at the end? I know I'm a suck, but it was just so beautiful (lucky child having that voice sing you to sleep every night)! I'll stop now, to take my medication.

Ok, back on track...

Is Tripod just so busy with the Comedy Festival that they don't have time to write new songs?? I hope they perform some new material in upcoming shows.

Anh Do was good - but I do have a problem with comedians who laugh at their own jokes. It seems to say - "Look how funny I am - I even amuse myself!"

Anyway... I'm off for a little lie down...

DEVIL’S ADVOCATE by Darren Pope

Paul McDermott ... “They like me, hate me, like me, hate me – I’m an alienator, a divider.”
COMEDY MAN PAUL MCDERMOTT HAS MADE A CAREER OUT OF PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES. THE SURPRISINGLY SHY FRONT MAN NOW HOSTS A NEW VARIETY SHOW ON THE ABC.
If Adam Hills is the darling saint of Australian comedy, Paul McDermott is definitely the anti-Christ. Whereas Hills tells folksy tales about tummy slapping and his grand-dad, McDermott sings parody songs about penises and fucking dogs.
Of course such comparisons are purely academic but, with the return of McDermott to ABC TV in The Sideshow, if nothing else the analogy helps to frame Australia’s wickedest comedian.
A few years back, with camera in hand, I approached McDermott in the Melbourne Comedy Festival bar. With a narrowing of the eyes and that wry smile, he declined.
“Thank you, but the answer is no,” he said, leaving little room for negotiation. The dismissive attitude reveals McDermott’s style and perhaps also his appeal. This man speaks his mind – a rare commodity in the bullshit world of media hype.
Early in our interview he alludes to that audience attraction.
“They like me, hate me, like me, hate me. I’m an alienator, a divider – it’s a fine line,” he says in jest. You get the feeling he enjoys the attention.
But out of the spotlight, McDermott is a self-confessed introvert, more comfortable in solitary creative pursuits of visual art and writing than the exhibitionist antics of comedy. If biographical web accounts are true, the Doug Anthony Allstars, the comedy troupe he formed with Tim Ferguson and Richard Fidler, came about to pay for McDermott’s art canvases. The trio enjoyed 10 years of extraordinary success.
Aside from festival forays, audiences know McDermott through his hosting gigs on Good News Week (ABC and Channel 10), the ARIAs and, more recently, Strictly Dancing.
The wise-cracking front man, who once sang a passionate love song to Mark Trevorrow (Bob Downe) on national TV, is also painfully shy, as he readily admits.
“I find it easier to stand in front of 700 people and speak my mind than sit in a room with six people who are all friends,” he says.
The revelation sits nicely as the flipside to McDermott’s over-the-top, boundary-pushing showmanship.
“I don’t know if you can take it too far,” he says. “The further you can push the boat away from the shore, the more interesting it becomes.”
McDermott’s devil-may-care attitude, coupled with strikingly good looks, has endeared him to queer audiences for years. It didn’t hurt that he shared the stage with Julie McCrossin, one of the few openly lesbian personalities in Australian media. Their Good News Week sparring made excellent television with McCrossin cast as the earth mother conscience to the smutty gaffs of McDermott and Mikey Robins.
The Sideshow variety formula, heavily reliant on local talent, promises more left-of-field humour.
“It’s an hour and a bit of carnival,” McDermott says. “It’s a great show for the ABC – the station should have been doing it five years ago.”
With a cast that includes The Umbilical Brothers, Tripod, Claire Hooper, Tim Minchin and Eddie Perfect, the show brings together music, comedy, stand-up, cabaret and burlesque into a circus setting with McDermott as the ringmaster.
The project is the brainchild of Ted Robinson, the name behind The Big Gig, DAAS Kapital and Good News Week. McDermott says they’ve developed the show together to bring variety back to TV.
Our interview time almost up, I venture a few personal questions. But before I can get to first base, the elusive comedian puts on the brakes.
“Hey, it’s been great talking to you but I’m already late for my next interview,” he says.
As dismissive as that time at the Comedy Festival, his response is decidedly in the negative. Why aren’t I surprised? We’ll just have to be happy with Paul McDermott the showman.

Long story short... I screwed up the recording and only taped 40 mins of the show. I slept though about 55 mins of it, but I did see Paul sing "Goodnight, Princess". I haven't seen anything else.

Can someone tell me what happened in the last 20 mins of the show this week?

Tripod did a song I've not heard before. Was it new-ish? Or had I just not heard it?

Claire put her boobies away this week. That makes me sad.
She did rag on Paul though, that amused me.
She seems to be a regular guest though, not just a one trick pony.

Whipcracking lady was alright... Watching her grind her crotch was better.

I was going to post some criticisms but someone might have a cry.

I'm not really seeing a compelling reason to keep watching this. I wish they'd podcast it, I'd be okay with downloading it. But there's better things on at 7.30 Saturday nights.

Yeah Tripod have done it before. Well I've heard it at least once....

yes I wondered what she was going to do when Yon started getting suited up. Those sparks in the eye are bad. Dad got one the other day and is now walking around like a pirate

I turned it off when Claire came on

Yeah its not what I would call fantastic
