I'm really loving the political slant on Paul's monologue though!! Hopefully, they'll bring back the Kransky's and more of the really crazy carnival stuff.... Overall though, I'm definitely hooked ![]()

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 2 | It's getting better. Definately needs the acts to be as different and unique as possible. Don't get me wrong on this....I love the comedians but does anyone else think that maybe we need to see abit less of them? I mean I like Tripod, Flacco, I'm warming to Claire-slowly, Tim Minchin, Stephen K Amos, Ed Byrne and all that. I just think that if they gave the priority to the 'carnival' acts- I'm not sure what else to call them- then it might help the comedy and build them up to be the focus abit more? (Though i consider the Kransky Sisters to be an exception here cause they are sorta both) Then there's Paul- He's doing a great job- doing his monologues, singing, participating in the 'carnival' acts- which incidentally is a great idea. Though I think the thing that has definately come across is that he is enjoying himself. He also seems rather comfortable which is good cause it helps the show along. It's certainly getting the publicity lately- earlier this week I heard Claire Hooper interviewed about it on the radio, she's even been on I think it was JTV talking about it. Anyway, getting better. Hope that it keeps getting better. I think I'll definately watch it every week. Amities, SS

I agree with the last post, where the focus is on the carnival, the show is better (the first two week were fantastic!) Does anyone know if the show is rating well?

Still enjoying the show but I think we should also remember that there are people out there who are viewing the acts for the first time, who haven't seen any other GNW shows so it will be all new to them. In general I think GNW have improved upon their last show In Siberia Tonight and Sideshow should be looked upon in the perspective of a body of work produced by the GNW team. There is deffinitely an air of the fringe to Sideshow which I find very appealing which is why I thought of Mosh. I am very amazed at how many carnival acts are appearing on TV lately both on Sideshow and Australia's Got Talent. I would never have thought that there would be that many performers of this sort. I agree with some of the comments above but I think they are still feeling their way and balancing the show and finding new areas to explore to remain unique and creative - not an easy thing to do and if anyone can do it GNW can. This is one show where if I had a recordable DVD/video player (which I don't damn it) I would tape it because it's worth a second viewing. To quote Mr Grace "You've all done very well" GNW.

| MOSH Addict | Erm, nowhere near? Sideshow is a collection of comedians, musicians and circus/burlesque/etc acts. MOSH was a strange musical about drugs, gender confusion and a guy in a nightclub (kind of *g*). I'm not seeing much of a parallel there. | ||

| MOSH Addict | What the hell is the point of the Fondue Set?? Is it just me that doesn't get the point of them pushing each other over and then getting back up?? Only good part of that segment was Cameron singing.... oh bloody Claire again. Nice new Tripod song....well I havent heard it before. Space cowboy.....arghhhhh.....seeing him hooked up by his skin is amazing though.. ![]() Last edited by Spoofy; 12-05-2007 at 09:37 PM. Reason: missed something..... | ||

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 2 | I thought it was much funnier this week, very random, but overall funnier. I don't like the Fondue set either! And yes, Claire is grating a little. Overall Paul was better and the show had a lot more spontaneity, I just wish they could get the better acts on more often like the Kransky's. The freakier the better I think! I read the ratings for it were down which is a shame because even at its slowest, The Sideshow is supporting alternative Australian talent and is much better than the commercial crap/reality TV that's on.

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 2 | I wonder if they are going to try and set up a DAAS reunion? The talk of DVD and Paul's new show would equal sales... or something... I half-arsed watched it this week. (I have this week and last week on PVR, so I will watch them properly.) I really like the live acts and Paul's bits. But the rest is kinda meh.

| MOSH Addict | Okay what did we think of last nights show? Tripod - Brilliant Mel Fyfe (Circus OZ) - boy is she flexible and strong. Umbies - funny Kransky Sisters - turned them off...never really liked them American comedian - didnt think he was funny personally Claire - turned her off again Paul being booed - priceless as always Alisso or someone - was that Naomi I spotted in the stands? | ||

Umbilical Brothers were pretty funny. The American Comedian was Tom Rhodes. I thought his bit was alright but nothing special. I liked Mel in the hamster wheel thingy. And having ![]() I forced myself to sit through the Kransky Sisters just to see if they're ever funny. The answer is still no. I liked Claire's card game type thing. ![]() Didn't listen to the musical act at the start, couldn't be bothered to be honest. I still wish they'd podcast this. ![]()

| MOSH Addict | At least she's quit hovering around the front of the stage, taking notes. I went to that taping. Mel and Christa were incredibly cool, even more so live, although the glowing bikini (flashing vag, as she put it *G*) came up really well on tv; Claire's cards, I'm sure I've seen somewhere before, but I couldn't tell you where; Tom Rhodes' voice gets on my nerves somewhat, but he had some good bits in his routine all the same; the Kranskys I'm indifferent to apart from being impressed by their acting abilities in keeping straight faces regardless of what else is going on; and everyone else wasn't actually there on the night *rolls eyes* Pre-records are evil. Although, on the plus side, pre-recording meant that we got three songs from Tim Minchin last time I went, instead of one *g* | ||
