| Good News Week - DAAS - GNWTV at MOSH - Australian Comedy Forum GnW Returns? He did look pretty skinny, yeah. Maybe it's just because I'm so used to seeing him so fat?... |

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 2 | Paul fat???? Interesting... Here's the passage from Paul's bio page (mistakes are bolded) Interesting how The Girl Who Swallowed Bees has not been included in the short films Paul has created. And forgive me for pointing out certain other things but where is his role in The Witches of Eastwick as Darryl Van Horne and where is the mention of him hosting The Sideshow? Not to mention GUD is also missing.... (I'm sure I must have missed some stuff but a spell checker is the least they could have done here) Paul began performing as a member of the Doug Anthony All Stars along with Tim Ferguson and Richard Fidler, starting out as buskers and performing live in clubs. After sucess at the 1986 Adealide Fring Festival, they travelled to Britain for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. While working there they picked up to perform on the ABC show The Big Gig, where they quickly gained a following, and, in time, their own show DAAS Kapital. They had frequent appearances on Australian televsision and toured extensively, performing independentlym, and in the three major festivals, Edinburgh Fringe, Montreal's Just For Laughs and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. After the Dough Anthony All Stars disbanded, Paul wrote, directed and performed in a stageshow entitled MOSH! with a group of young Australian performers. Following that he was recruited to co-host Good News Week from 1996 - 2000. In 1996 and 1997 he was also co-hosting breakfast radio on Triple J with Micky Robins, Steve Abbott and later Jen Oldershaw. While starring on GNW, Paul wrote a number of songs. Two of these appeared on a single. Shut Up / Kiss Me was the title track. It was a duet with Fiona Horne and was co - written with Paul Mac. The single also featured Paul's song happiness. Some of his other songs also appeared on Good News Week Tapes Vol 2, such as The Drugs, Everything and More and Nothing. Paul sang most weeks on Good News Weekend and Good News Week Nite Lite and many fans used to record these songs to create bootlegs CDs. The CD Good News Week tapes Volume 1 featured several of Paul's monologues from the start of the show. Paul also hosted the ABC Strictly Dancing in 2004 - 2005. He has released several books with Doug Anthony All Stars and several on his own (The Forgetting of Wisdom, The Scree, The Girl Who Swallowed Bees). One of his books, The Scree, has been developed into a short film. The Scree won Best Film at the 2005 Flickerfest International Film Festival, and was invited to be screened at the 54th Berlin Film Festival. Last edited by SammySatine; 07-02-2008 at 06:06 PM.

Come back from the ad break and they're still talking away and we missed a bunch. "Mikey's said he wouldn't come back and do it if I sang at all. So that's not going to happen. So you can watch the program without fear!" - Paul ![]()

If it happened in Sydney too, it was stupid 10's fault. I feel better now. Is the FULL clip on the Ten site? One thing I thought was funny. Claire kept looking to Paul to answer their questions, and when he didn't, you could see her panic a bit before speaking. As another interviewer said, Paul isn't the easiest person to interview. Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 2 | Over here in Perth there was a clip shown during the interview on 9am which looked like one of those just come back from the ad break pieces from the last episode of GNW in 2000. Which David and Kim did not allude to nor did anyone or anything else...it was weird..by the way I did not see an ad in our broadcast of the interview... Amities, SS

![]() Wouldn't mind seeing Cam and his band myself, but not if the price is gratuitous singing at the drop of a hat. I like Paul's singing, but I think it's best saved for special occasions. If they do a comfest episode, for instance.

I remember in the beginnings of GNW, Paul rarely sang. I like the show better back then. I got a bit over it when it seemed like everything was just a setup for Paul to sing.

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 3 | I like Paul singing - but like it better when the song has purpose - ie a duet with one of the guest panelists. Loved the Paul and Mark Trevorrow pieces. Mikey should stay out of it - it's not like he can contribute.
