Farewell

Well as I have just arrived home from the moosehead awards benefit for another year (another brilliant show) I guess it must mean that like all good things the Comedy Festival for 2003 has come to an end. Who ever came up with the saying all good things must come to an end was a stupid twat and I don't want the comedy festival to end.
The mooseheads were brill as usual, a particular highlight has to have been Adam Hills unable to stop laughing at the smacktard down the front and then Daniel Kitson following him by doing ten minutes of taking the piss out of this guy. It culminated in Daniel doing a reverse kick of the water bottle that this tit threw up on stage at him. He seemed actually genuinely surprised that he connected.

I just have to say how happy I am that all of Dave Taranto's shows from RRR and from the Prince Pat are going to be archived and preserved. That man had such an amazing love for comedy and for comedians that it is only fitting that his pure joy in getting new comics out to the people be preserved.

So good bye festival see you in 340 days (or there abouts), and remember that fringe and regular comedy nights can sustain us

I am also adding my farewells here.

Bye. (I'd say more, but it will get very nasty because of the number of attacks made on my person this year by certain people...)

yes farewell thee comedy festival. the festivities are over for another year for melbourne anyway. but yeah. i'm a little taken back by it, it seemed to go so quick, yet during it, i thought "yeah, there's still another few weeks" then it was another week, then at least a couple more days, then last night and oh , now it's all over.

still to put a bit of negativity into a positive attitude...

FUCKING CAN'T WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR!

for those of you i haven't yet excitedly told, come see my show next year!?!?! you won't regret it! well, i won't regret you coming.. isn't that enough?

word up homies fru has returned

there were high and low points for me

LOWS: Attacked by Wil Anderson Fans at the OB bruising my toe and ripping off my acrylic nails
Attacked by Tripod Fans at the OB
Attacked by a drunk Adam Hills Fan at the superband (and if i find out who it was that asked why he was dressed like captain feathersword i'll slap you)
my friend not turning up last night thus being unable to get into the hifi
*all fans mentioned were about 12 years old*
being leered at by Mike Wilmot

HIGHS:
Meeting Spoof
Discovering new fav Danny Bhouy
Watching the Gods that are Ross Noble and Adam Hills
Superband- always a classic
learning how to deal with lack of sleep and food
laughing at psyho fans *names not mentioned* stalking comedians

Drunk Midget to even Drunker Chick - Have you ever had anyone go up on you before?

Son: Is there anything we can do to get Buffy back?
Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.

i'm not a member - I just stumbled on this site doing a search for the comedy festival which I went to for the first time this year. It was the best fun ever!!! Well done everyone involved. For the record, my personal highlights were:

* Dave Gorman's show
* Meeting and getting stoned with Mike Wilmot
* Watching Gatesy do karaoke (too funny)
* Glasshouse taping
* Getting a free Chaser
* Meeting Chris from the Chaser at the OB - he's the nicest guy (and very spunky!)
* Dancing at the Hi-Fi with Rich Hall

Can't wait till next year!!!!

Highlights for my mind:

* Seeing Daniel Kitson absolutely blow my mind for the second year running. I said it after last year's festival, but he truly is the best stand up comedian I have ever seen.
* GUD's 'Moira' and 'Fuck the Poor' songs.
* Ross Noble singing Ms Dynamite and me consequently impersonating Ross Noble impersonating Ms Dynamite for three and a half weeks, much to the disgust of my friends.
* Getting to meet Neil Innes and getting Monty Python stuff signed.
* Seeing just how much Daniel Kitson does not appear to like fame!
* Lee Mack; he is brilliant. He's like Shaun Micallef meets Ross Noble, which is a very very good thing. His talents are wasted on The Sketch Show.
* Tom Gleeson. One of the best stand ups around, and a shame that on the Thursday night I went, the venue was only about 1/5 full. He deserves much, much better.

Lowlights:

* Missing both Tripod and Noel Fielding - two shows I was desperate to see - because of poverty.
* Half-Tix not having any decent cheap tickets apart from GUD and T. Gleeson!
* Lee Mack not winning the Barry (not to take anything away from Mike Wilmot...)
* Daniel Kitson not winning a single award. Oh, apart from the Perrier :P
* The crowds didn't seem to pick up until week 3 of the Festival, and I'm interested to see if overall crowds this year were down on previous years.

That's it.

International wishlist for next year - Daniel Kitson, Ricky Gervais, Ross Noble, Lee Mack, Dylan Moran, Greg Proops, Dan Antopolski, The Boosh, Danny Bhoy.

"You're only one Cleo mag from anorexia" - TISM.

"Most British comedians come out and do a bit of local material so that you will think they are one of you. But I'm not one of you. I'm an award winner" - Daniel Kitson.

"If you feed a seagull Alker-Seltzer, it will explode. Who discovered that?" - Ricky Gervais on 'The 11'o'Clock Show'

fare thee well, melbourne international comedy festival... i shall miss thee, and thine comedic melodies from many a wandering humourous minstrel.

And forgeteth not the populous of comedic activity... particularly in the joining of online presence with physical masses.

And to the experiences of the festival of mirth and much merriment in melbourne, they shall ne'er be forgotten, for thyshelf, and myself, are no longer comfest virgins.

Fare thee well, melbourne international comedy festival... i shall miss thee...

Goodbye to the incessant, pathetic whining about ComFest related matters..... Or at least goodbye fairly soon... And only for a couple of months until the cycle repeats itself.

Myth are you a little over the comfest already?
But people have only been talking about it for 130 days in a row, surely that can't be too annoying
