And a recommendation (so not to waste your money): Don't see Lano and Woodley unless you really love them. Their show was crap compared to last years. But still, there were highlights such as King Arknarken, the whole Ladder story, and Frank/Colin's song. Otherwise there wasn't much to laugh about.

the only things that are regularily televised are the gala which is on 11th April on channel ten and the debate, although if you watch rove live come of the comedians come on and do wo or three minutes of their shows.

Lano & Woodley - if I hadn't seen most of it before at the Prince Patrick show, then I would've liked it more, for obvious reasons, but I still found it funny (and it was a bit more refined) so I guess that's what counts.

And the walking through the fire bit is intentional.  It's meant to be funny.  You've gotta admit, if they didn't do it at all, there would be less laughs all added up.

It took me a week, but I finally got to some festival shows.

I agree with most above, Lano and Woodley were hilarious.

Man Bites God were on fire last night! Their new material had me crying with laughter - it was all so very wrong and very sweet at the same time. There were too many great songs to pick a highlight, but there was one particular song which seemed to have the audience talking after the show, but will never ever be played on radio or television, so you have to get along and see them live or you'll never hear it

When the hour was over I really wanted it to start all over again. So I'm going back tonight And then I'm seeing GUD.

Weeellll...
I'm just repeating things that other people have said, but:
GO AND SEE CHRIS ADDISON.  He was maybe not as good as last year, but brilliantly funny anyway!
Ross Noble is always awesome... I always feel slightly confused after one of his shows... but in a good way!
LADY ROBOTS LADY ROBOTS LADY ROBOTS!  I've still gotta say that I like their NON-concept shows better, but still, this was great.  Especially the computer games bit - THAT had me in tears!  And do you wanna know what's fun?  See Tripod on a Thursday night, then go and see KOP at the Armadale... and time how quickly Gatesy gets between the two venues.  We left the assembly hall, and went straight to the Armadale.  Gatesy stayed back at the Assembly hall to sign autographs.  He walked in LITERALLY a minute behind us.  Twins, perhaps?  (*drool* Mmmmm... Gatesy twins).

*wanders off to think about that in more detail...*

"Yeah, but it turns me on baby!!" - Gatesy

yes ok fine i UNDERSTAND it is intentional what I'm saying is having thess faults (yes intentional faults) and the things like walking past the megaphone and the pointing out that they hadn't actualy cut through the wire when the power goes off etc is what makes it funny to me..

boy oh boy it was just how i saw it..i didn't need to be made to look stupid..

like i said each to his own..

so "whoopie shit"

If you're lucky the ComFest Roadshow might go somewhere near you. Some of the acts mentioned may be included, but you'd have to find the schedule and go pester the venue to see who's going where, as it's not the same in every location.. Or hasn't been in the past, from what I've seen.

since only one person's said it thus far - I would highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend the 4 Noels - they were at least 5 times better than they were on the Gala - and that was pretty damn good.
SO many character changes, a guy who looks impressively good in a dress, and oh my god.. so funny..
I'd also like to recommend
The Art of Schmoozing - Damian Clarke and Anthony Menchetti
for it's sheer excellence..
and Lawrence Leung - Sucker -if you want to have your mind boggled and leave completely gobsmacked and not knowing what to believe. fuckin' fantastic.
also - Spinning wheel should never be missed - best night so far was last night - with Adam Hills, Brian Munich, the Soubrettes, Wes Snelling etc..etc.... I laughed so bloody hard.

Proxy Heroes with Damian Callinan and Lawrence Mooney (sic?) is really good, especially if you are of a literary persuasion.  If you are not, it's great, too!

Comedy Zone - Danny is very good at doing his solo standup routine, and the whole team work well together.

If you hate John Howard, go and see Rod Quantock's Scum Nation.
