Before everyone jumps on my back and hates me, I'll try and get back on the right foot. I want to know what shows everyone saw at the comfest and which shows were everyone's favourites.
I myself changed my schedule around so often and once I remember everything I saw, I'll say my two cents worth.

AUTOBOOSH AUTOBOOSH AUTOBOOSH!!!!

I know everyone was saying it wasn't as good as Arctic, but I thought it was just as good. I adore Noel and Julian - they're so talented, and their whimsy is just so addictive.  Most importantly - it was a real cack!

Or maybe I just like rabbits with big white faces, cockney nutjobs, and Smoothie Time. "Wooden man, wooden man, chip him off, put him a drinkee!"

Rich Hall, and his texan guitarist who he is *so* shagging. until seing those two together onstage i didn't know my mind was intrested in rich hall shagging. i now know it is, very interested. I saw him twice, and want to see him again the songs and anti-George Bush jokes and general otis lee crenshaw-ness were fab. i've been waiting to see the guy for two years!

other reccomendations go to Adam Hills who was fantastic and enjoyed very much by less jokies friends of mine who are now quoting him. Anthony Morgan was also good, but that might just be cause i was missing him. he was conventionally bad, drunk, poorly prepared and forgetting stuff but in a morgs way very good. love the Canadian boys too.

Right, in the order of what I saw:
Cops on Heat: Interrogation with Sarah Kendall & Derek Flores (not the best interrogation night but it was fun watching Derek sink lower and lower in his chair)
Fresh (with Jodie J. Hill & Jo Stanley, fantastic surprise ending)
Anthony Ackroyd (he was having an off night so unfortunately not one of my faves)
Cops on Heat: Interrogation with Adam Spencer (my god does Adam have an interesting life!)
Raw Comedy (the winner should NOT have won, and that's not just my opinion, but it was my only chance to see Dave O'Neil and Dave Hughes on stage so that was okay)
Comedy Zone (loved it! And Damo did his McDonald's joke just for me, so I appreciated that, especially since it got the laughs it deserved)
Spinning Wheel (great night, lots of great comedians)
Upfront 7 (top night, no one comedian stood out)
Cops on Heat: the regular show (what can I say? Love the cops, but I wish John & Dave were on too)
Ross Noble (great comic, great guy)
Arj Barker (highlight just because I won his CD during heavy metal heckler!)
The 3 Canadians (only disappointing bit was Derek was in the way at the end so I couldn't see Eric  but that was of course a fantastic show)
Jeff Green (yeah, another great show)
Dave Gorman (so much emotion! Glad it was recommended to me)
Wil Anderson (the solution to pollution is dilution, well Wil always puts on a great performance in my opinion, and this was no exception. It was the 3rd full length festival show I'd seen of his)
Kim Hope (loved this show too, another show with emotion)
Anthony Morgan (glad I went the night I went because I actually enjoyed myself)
Gerard McCulloch (I was going to see something else but I'm glad I changed my mind and saw this. Got to sit next to Corinne & it was an interesting performance to say the least)
Tom Gleeson (great show)
Peter Helliar (always an interesting performer)
Cops on Heat: Interrogation with Ross Noble (now that man made everyone leave thinking his mum watched him the first time he had sex!)
Cal Wilson (definitely deserved that best newcomer award!)
James O'Loghlin (as with others, always a great performer, even if I had heard most of it before)
Cops on Heat: Interrogation with Wil Anderson and Adam Hills (twas fantastic watching Adam be Wil and Wil be Adam! and everything else)

so yeah, obviously I loved just about every show I saw. Of course I loved all the Comedy Central's I went to also.

Well, I only went to three shows (could've been four, still pissed off about that - won't go into it now!):

[b:post_uid0]Greg Fleet[/b:post_uid0] - this was the first time I saw a live show of his, and I loved it! I thought the venue was great and suited the show well, and, although all of the slides and music were out-of-sync (it was his first night), he was still brilliant.

[b:post_uid0]Wil Anderson[/b:post_uid0] - guess what? I adored Wil's show - what a surprise, coming from a huge Wil fan. I saw him twice last year and had great expectations for this year, and I was not disappointed! I'm glad it didn't go any longer than it did, though, because 1) I had to go to the toilet from lauging so much (that is totally true!) and 2) he was making me dizzy with all his buzzing about! Hehe, great show!!

[b:post_uid0]Tripod[/b:post_uid0] - this was the biggest surprise of the weekend for me, I absolutely smegging loved this! I went to Tripod as a fan, but I totally did not expect to be as blown away as I was by this show. It was awesome (and I say that as a big fan of pirate stories, as well!). The only two things that would've improved this would be if we didn't have to stand in line for over half an hour sandwiched between irritating thirty-somethings (nothing against the age group generally, but these people were NUTBAGS!) and if it didn't start late, because I spent the last half of the show stressing because we were going to miss Cops On Heat (we did).

So, there you go! I can't pick a favourite, but you have my thoughts on the entire experience. Well, not the *entire* experience, but that's all I'm willing to go into in a public forum, hehe! :star:

I typed out a long answer to this and then bloody AOL disconnected me and I lost it :(  So this one will probably be a bit shorter!

The shows I saw at the comfest .. Great Debate, Moosehead Awards, Tripod, Wil Anderson, Tom Gleeson, Lano & Woodley, Gerard McCulloch, Adam Hills, Fresh - Jodie & Jo, The 3 Canadians, Ross Noble, Anthony Morgan, Des Dowling, Cal Wilson & The Fat .. I think that's basically it .. oh and the Big Laugh Out & Comedy Central each weekend.

Top 5 shows were Tripod, The 3 Canadians, Adam Hills, Tom Gleeson & Wil Anderson.

I hadn't seen The 3 Canadians or Tom Gleeson before the festival, so that was a really nice surprise discovery to make.  They're all absolutely brilliant performers and I hope to see Eric, Derek, North & Tom back next year!

I hadn't seen one of Adam Hills shows before, but now there is no way I'm going to miss one if I have the chance.  It was one of the funniest shows of the festival, I was laughing non-stop from start to finish.  Adam just gets so into his show and makes you want to laugh along with him.  And he's the sweetest guy alive

Tripod and Wil are old favorites, so I knew I was going to love their shows.  It was great to see some new stuff from Tripod, no uniforms, new songs, but the same old boys we know and love!  I saw their show 5 times and I laughed harder every time I saw it.  These guys are just amazing and if you haven't seen them live yet make sure you do!

Wil's show I saw 3 times and again I just laughed more and more each time I went.  The 2nd show I went to was the best, he was screaming and running around on the stage more than ever and it was bloody entertaining!  And I loved how he got audience members up to think of a catchphrase for him, gave a nice unique element to the show .. and came up with some #### unique catchphrases too!

Overall a brilliant festival .. can't wait til next year!!

I was only in melbourne 2 days .. but I managed to see Rich Hall and Wil Anderson. I tried to see Peter Helliar too but couldn't fit it in.   I've been waiting a long long time to see Rich Hall and it was definatley worth it!! Wil's show was good - but I had already seen the pre-festival Bondi workshops so I had already heard some of it!

... Something that has been puzzling me ... Wil pulled an old Librarian named Sue out of the audience and used her for the first gag. (the one about a catchy line) She did this at both the Bondi Pav and Comfest shows ... is she a plant??? Did everyone else see this woman too??? or was it a geninue freak out - this woman is stalking me - moment??

In the Comfest Roadshow so far I've seen Scott Capurro and am planning to see Ross Noble too if I can. Its a shame that all the comics dont come up to sydney there are hundreds of others I would like to see.

OK, here's the list of acts I went to see in the 9 days I was at the fest...

AutoBoosh (twice), Dave Gorman (twice), Priorite a Gauche (twice), Chris Addison, Adam Hills, Scott Capurro, Gifted Green and Gorgeous, Three Canadians, Ross Noble, Arj Barker, Raw Comedy, Upfront VII, Mooseheads, Jeff Green, Harmon Leon, Cops on Heat, The Late Show at Black Box, Greg Fleet, Rich Hall, MacHomer, two sessions of Comedy Central, two sessions of Spinning Wheel and EVERY night of the Festival Club and Elbow Grease that was on while I was there.

Obviously I placed an emphasis on seeing the international acts while there as they aren't available to see all the time.

My fave 3 shows were (in order)-
* Dave Gorman (seen him 5 times now and still reduces me to tears.  Hopefully some TV channel here will pick up the rights to his BBC show soon.)
* Adam Hills (he is still the most underrated comedian not just in Australia, but in the world.  Someone please give him an award!)
* Rich Hall (I have been avoiding seeing his show for 2 years now... never thought I'd like someone who pretends to be a crim from the US, but I was pleasantly surprised and I could hardly sit still during the songs... amazing stuff!)

Just while on the topic of Rich Hall... did someone say that they fancied him here?  Hmmm... probably not after seeing him at the airport wearing stubbie shorts, sneakers and socks pulled up to his knees. hehe.  However his texan guitarist buddy (his name is Christian actually and a totally British gentleman) I couldn't deny to anyone that he's sexy.

Enough about finding people attractive - this is probably not the forum for that kind of discussion.

Bring on more comedy!

The [b:post_uid0]BOOOOOSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! [/b:post_uid0] Surreal and weird and hilarious at every turn and badly synchronised crash. *Less constructed than Arctic Boosh though.
[b:post_uid0]Brian Munich & friends[/b:post_uid0] - on par with the BOOSH and these are LOCAL lads. *Deserved winners of both the Barry and Age Critic awards. *Their TV show on channel 31 is a cackfest too. *An extended run at Trades Hall means if you missed them during fest you can still make up for it. **dons dancing teeth*
4 weeks of [b:post_uid0]Satan's Beachhouse[/b:post_uid0] - a different (yes, truly different) show each week. *always worth the time. *Interesting to see the four comedians - duff, adrian calear, matt elsbury and nick venus - in various permutations. *And hooking duff to electrodes is going just far enough "it's like drinking too much cordial."
[b:post_uid0]3 Canadians[/b:post_uid0] a surprise, last-minute addition to my schedule and a welcome one. *At least i had forwarning as to the nature of their ending! *they are well able to improvise - as proven when the alien tumbled from his perch and we had visions of what was to come :)
[b:post_uid0]Tripod[/b:post_uid0] mostly cool but i was expecting more. *yes, i laughed but sometimes the songs seemed laboured. slight disappointment but still kick-arse and better than most fest stuff!
[b:post_uid0]Lano & Woodley[/b:post_uid0] Nowhere near as good as "Curtains" but still quite worthwhile.
[b:post_uid0]Tom Gleason[/b:post_uid0] I MISSED SUBBY! *recycling is indeed a noble trait, though :)
[b:post_uid0]DUFFFF!!![/b:post_uid0] finally had explained the reason the spice girls should be in politics - and it MAKES SENSE! *go you anarchic guy. *we need your like to keep our heads in order and fight the evil Caputron.
[b:post_uid0]Sarah Kendall[/b:post_uid0] thought-provoking, funny, moving.
[b:post_uid0]Gerard McCulloch[/b:post_uid0] the anatomy of a comedy routine is one of the best routines i've seen and Hank Ruby... *g* sucks 'em in every time.
[b:post_uid0]SWLGs superband[/b:post_uid0] rocks the house but the general festival club can be hit & miss depending who's on stage that night. *mcs really can make or break a night too. *and that little canadian guy with the big head was fun. *no, he wasn't one of the 3 canadians, he was another canadian.
[b:post_uid0]The Spinning Wheel[/b:post_uid0] Great venue - but needs more chairs! *The finger food is appreciated :) *Again, dependent on line-up and mcs but mostly great atmosphere. Corey Feldman's younger brother looks strangely familiar but doesn't really resemble Corey Feldman....
[b:post_uid0]The Planet[/b:post_uid0] always rocks, internationals, locals, PVC-clad mc, no matter - great stuff. *Chat can just get scary:wink: **checks ticket* ####! *missed out on the singing lobster :(
[b:post_uid0]Ross Noble[/b:post_uid0] hmmm. *some things really fired and others just didn't. *hard to recommend to someone as the nature of his show is so deconstructed and high quality does not seem to be guaranteed.
[b:post_uid0] Wil Anderson [/b:post_uid0] yeah, good. *not one of my faves, though. *does he have to shout constantly?
[b:post_uid0]the great debate[/b:post_uid0] inclined not to bother next year. *i will view it on TV when the editing has been done.
So many more shows I should have seen... Morgs, Matt vs the Music World, Dave Gorman (if only to say I'd seen it), the Lost Shakespeare, Late Night Lock-In at Tradies.
11 more months til i can do it all again! *rests*
