Jay, great selection of shows you saw in Edinburgh. Especially considering I saw all of them too. And about another 30 or so.

I was meant to see the Daniel Kitson trial at Hen and Chickens but got there a bit too late and subsequently had to see his show in Edinburgh 3 times. heh.

But I ended up seeing Marcus Brigstockes Award Winning Show as a trial up in Camden somewhere, Richard Herrings' trial in Ealing, and then saw Rob Rouse do his preview at Hen and Chickens the night after Kitson. Rob Rouse had my fave show by far in Edinburgh. Anyone who does a striptease ala the human teabag for Lipton gets my vote.

Went to the Amused Moose in Soho a few times and met some ace people (ooh, did you see John Oliver - at the very least did you see his set at Late n Live?), Monday Club on the Thames and a few dodgy nights at the Comedy Store in Leicester Square.

Yep you should be excited about seeing Daniel, he's meant to have a bunch of new material for 'Something', which still remaining true to the main point of it. Let's just say he's had plenty of lovin' since he wrote all the self-pity love material...

But anyway, the point is, you must be happy that you know pretty much all the shows and acts coming to Melbourne and can agree that the comfest staff have done a great job picking them out this year?

Yep, I'd agree that they have made some great choices this year, seeing as they had so much to choose from...

*looks at tattered, but well loved Ed Fringe guide*

I was only in Edinburgh for just over a week so I had to cram in as much as possible, given the choice of acts, its impossible to see everything.

I also managed to see Ed Byrne & Jason Woods (who I loved) somewhere in London as well as Ross Noble at the Vaudeville Theatre on the Strand. (I love Mr Noble, can you tell? )

All in all, Melbourne Comedy Festival 2003...bring it on!

Jay, you didn't go to the final night of Late n Live by any chance??? heh

Yep I saw Jason Woods - quite excellent if you know most of the artists he takes off. Also enjoyed Jimmy Carr and quite surprised he isn't coming to Melbourne. oh well.

Nope, I was in Northern Ireland by then. Although *Late* n live is certainly the truth, that is definately for the night owls.

I couldnt get over the amount of Aussie's in Edinburgh AND the amount of people I knew. Pretty cool atmosphere in that town, I will definately go back soon.

certainly is a great atmosphere, lots of Aussies yes, but the locals are wonderful too. Seeing as their town is completely overrun at festival time, they seem very chirpy about it.

Will be going back soon myself, but of course, not soon enough. Returning to Edinburgh, July 2004.

Shame you missed Late N Live, even if it was a shadow of its former self from the days of the old Cowgate venue. In particular the final night where me and some my local mates had a starring moment in the front row. hehe

Ha!

I had my own starring moment at Dan Antopolski's show, my friend made me sit in the front row, big mistake as I was already well on my way to being very "merry"....

Oh, and I miss the chipper on Grassmarket!

Chips & Gravy Mmmmmmmmmm

And the scottish accent is my favourite, I was in heaven! Did you happen to see a little band called the Martians performing up & down the Royal Mile? Very cool, very funny.

*bounces around hyperactively*

Two tapings? TWO tapings??? Thank fuck! *giggles* That means that they won't need to do a Sydney taping halfway through the comfest, and that, as long as I remember to book tickets for the first one back *g*, I won't miss any this year!

I am disturbed by them being Wednesday tapings, though...I haven't been to Wednesday tapings since NL...

Ohh, that sucks muchly...call in sick and fly down early *giggles* Or use the excuse I heard last night, and claim you need to be tested for Legionnaire's disease when you get back *eg* Comfest has a bad reputation for outbreaks *g* That way you can go back to work a few days late *g*

PS: Your signature made me giggle *g*
