Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 4 | That depends on the venue, although the vast majority of shows are sold through ticketmaster. I am going to wait until the program comes out before I make any purchases (unless you want good seats to the Gala, I never go) and I try to get as many shows as I can puchased in a "Laugh Pack" so its cheaper. There are special "laugh pack" rates for shows if they are purchased at the same time, 3 or more from memory. Plus I have already seen most of the international's shows that are up for sale on the tickemaster website now. ![]()

All venues managed by the Comedy festival and those in the Town Hall district must go through the booking agent Ticketmaster. It's a part of the conditions registering for the Comnedy festival, as a promotor/performer. Any show, however, if they so desire can use Ticketmaster, but your smaller venues and clubs would tend to use there own box offices ( not expecting big crowds, cheaper). The pros and cons of Ticketmaster is that you get double the advetisement (ie on their website like everybody on this site is doing now) and from a punters point of view, you have extreme convenience since anybody anywhere in the country can book tickets to your show. The cons are, as a promotor, you must pay a service fee and booking fee to Ticketmasters which is usually around $ 6/7 bucks a ticket ( big ouchies). But then as I said, if you dont use Ticketmaster people have to call your venue or go to it to get tickets and the chance of them hearing about your show is seriously reduced. The main venues, Melb Town Hall, Capital Theatre, The Athenaeum, The Forum, etc are ticketmaster, and so lump or leave it, you will probably have to go through ticketmaster who also lump a booking fee on the punter. So they double dip and fuck you over at both ends. God Bless Capitalism

Just curious as I've been over 4 years in a row, and I finally think the Melb comfest people have got the lineup right... Mind you, I'm taking an unfortunate break from Edinburgh this year... going to New Zealand instead for a week in May.

Plus you go to Half Tix on the day and get half price tickets which saves you even more money (or at least means you get to go to more shows)
