from what i can remember, i think ticket prices vary from place to place, so your best bet is finding out your closest roadshow venue and calling them. you'll probably be able to book your tickets through the venue but i know some places (like wollongong) also go through ticketek, so just call and ask

and if anyone has any inside info on who's performing where, please let us know so we can decide whether it's worth going to *g*

Can someone please explain to me this whole Roadshow concept?
Muuuummmmy I dont understand Is it the same comedians roaming around all the time or is it a varing line up, how many comedians are there, do they all to a show together or is it three? different sets of standup with aMC or what?
My brain hurts
Thanks

ok it's a couple (maybe three i think only two though) of groups of comedians that take a nice big roadtrip around he country. 1 groups goes to certain places and one group goes to another you'll have to check the website to see which group you'll get. up they usually have an mc..the comedians just do parts of their showss...aaah that's all i can think of..they obviously dno't do all of their set ..or you'd be there over 10 hours.. :0)

does this clear things up?

probably not...i have a headache

The Roadshow concept is that they take comedy and the excitement of the Melbourne Festival to places that don't have regular comedy available.

It is usually 4 or 5 comics from the years festival (or have been in previous festivals), doing gigs together. So one is MC, and the other 3 or 4 do 20 min sets.

It's the same gig everywhere, but there are 2 tours going around, so you either get one lineup or the other. Who is actually on the tour going through your area isn't announced until the final week of the Festival.

I can tell you though that Chris Addison is on one of the tours this year.

I'll find out what I can about Chris' gigs and report back soon. He isn't answering his email right now, so I'm guessing he's busy.

Just needed to add my opinion about Chris' lack of full length shows this Festival...

*sigh*

Interviewer: Dave Grohl said that Songs for the Deaf is the best album he's ever played on. Wasn't that guy in Nirvana?

Josh Homme: He says all the time, "I was in fuckin' Nirvana, man." And I tell him, "OK, buy me something."

Ok... Why are they going to Knox Community Centre in Bayswater then? This has always puzzled me, as Bayswater is only about half an hour (ok... so maybe, I speed sometimes) from the Melbourne CBD. I'd hardly call it a rural stop in the comfest road trip... not that I'm complaining or anything, it's just puzzled me over the years.

The Roadshow this year is a fucking joke. There's more dates listed for Victoria than there are for New South Wales.
Hmmm, let's see. More people in NSW. Actual ComFest in Victoria. Yes, let's have more roadshow dates in Victoria!

(I'm going to a roadshow anyway, but that doesn't stop me thinking the schedule is a great big stinking pile of horse shit. )

Moone Ponds Clocktower Theatre is even closer - without speeding. Kyneton is not too far away, either.
