Notice for Comics - MICF 2004 registration to open...

Hi everyone.

I'm just posting for the comics and producers amongst us that registration for next years Melbourne Comedy Festival is set to open in the next couple of days via the website - www.comedyfestival.com.au

Registration will close on 22nd December, so you have just over a month to get crackin'

The MICF info day for comics/producers is to be held on Wed 19th Nov at 4.30pm in the King and Associates office (1st Floor 110 Johnson st Fitzroy). If you wish to attend, ring the MICF office and speak to Joanne to confirm.

actually Gutter, it was meant to open last Friday, then today...

so I guess its opening at the same time as the info session now. hmmm.

Anyone here (I mean acts) planning on attending the info session?

was planning on, but couldn't make it. bugger of a time. still, interested in those who did go and their feedback.

so online rego is still not in swing? or is it just me? probably.

I went. Some of it was scary - I hadn't thought about public liability insurance or stuff like that. Yikes!!

But the staff were nice & helpful.

god yes. Public liability is a scary thought. Deal with it quickly and get it out of the picture is my philosophy so you can concentrate on the main thing which is to put on a show.

I've already got all the public liability insurance malarky sorted out. Yeah! If anyone gets injured in any way during my performance (which is pretty likely, now that I think about it) then I'm ready to swing into action.

Of course, the MICF might not approve of my plan to "kill them all and hide the bodies until it all blows over", but I think they'll come around to my way of seeing things eventually.

I still haven't organised it. I haven't even organised a venue - I'm running out of time!!! I'm gonna talk to some people tomorrow. I've spent all today running around trying to find stuff I need for props & costumes, 'cos I've set deadlines for that stuff as well and it'll take months for me to do that stuff.

But I have registered online. I didn't really have much info to plug in yet, but I'm in there.[/b]

Are you thinking of trying for the Town Hall/ comfest run venues, or looking for somewhere independently? If you like, we can take this conversation to email and stop boring people with our plans...

What?? How could anyone possibly be bored by anything I have to say?

I was having a few thoughts about Duckboard House, but I may have found a little independent venue where I might fit in better. I don't think it's been used for a comedy festival show before (it was used during Fringe) and it's even closer to the Town Hall than Duckboard house (although it still won't be called 'precint'). But I've only just opened discussions with them today, so I won't go blabbing all the details just in case the whole plan falls in a hole. My plans do that quite regularly.

I might apply for Duckboard House anyway, just in case, but that's still a pipedream at this point. I'll have to write up a proposal.
