Dermo wait until the guide comes out. Last year most of us posted up our schedules and tried to make some group outings....they are fun..can you imagine Paul's face when about 14 moshers cram into the first 2 - 3 rows of his show

on another note....Adelaide Fringe guide comes out tomorrow, so that might give a better idea as to who to expect at Melb.
www.adelaidefringe.com.au is the website

Yes, but he did get his revenge...doing the race and landing on all of us! Sweaty, dirty man *shudders* Not to mention Cameron and his bloody boots!

Still, could have been worse. We could have been on Mick's team *G*

Whoa, way to give me a heart attack!!

It really better not end at 8.50pm, 'cos it'll really look weird with us both performing our shows together on stage for 20 minutes ...

But hey, I'm willing to try it once to see how it goes.

Well, Optimus Prime won't hurt human beings. He'd destroy the Dalek if it was threatening them, though, then offer to help you two negotiate a solution.

Back on topic...

Recommendations

I recommend anything in either the (I might have these room names wrong - I'll check my old ticket stubs tonight when I get home) Backstage and Luncheon Rooms of the Town Hall. I've always seen good quality shows there over the past few years like: Tom Gleeson's Pirate Copy; Dave Callan's show when he had done his leg/ankle at the Adelaide Fringe earlier that year, and had to do an entirely different show to his original; Wellington X X Wellington; and TanJosé to mention the show names that I can remember right now.

Oh, and Rod Quantock. See him. As well as anything that has The Gadflys as part of the bill. Not because they are funny (they are more amusing), but because they are good musicians.

Warnings

If you don't want the comedian to pay attention to you during the show, don't sit in the front row, or do anything like: have a distinctive laugh; not laugh; be too obviously differently dressed to everyone else (if someone rocks up as part of the audience dressed in a Wilderness Society koala suit, chances are you will be picked on, or endlessly amuse a few people); respond too enthusiastically to a question from the comedian; heckle.

Also, P McDiddy seems to have a problem getting his shows cohesive and running during previews. Don't go to preview shows and expect magic from him. Mick will be a God as usual, though.

Both

If the rumours are true: Anthony Morgan. Sometimes he's got it, is on fire completely, and you don't stop laughing for an hour. Other nights, he struggles to raise a chuckle. Fortunately, I've only ever seen him when he's on fire.

tee hee Wilderness Koala

recommendations

-go to superband
-if you are so inclined get drunk
-go to spinning wheel
-take a chance on a show that you haven't heard about

warnings

-if you get too drunk you will throw up
-haggis doesn't like to dance
-comedians are perverts
-if you will be attending either the hifi or spinning wheel check to see who's on that night, then don't go and see their show in the same night. hearing the same material twice in one night is not that amusing

Cam - where do you even keep a cunt once you've cut it out?
Mick - on a piano stool.

mmm..*grabby hands at comfest*
holy fuck this is my fourth year.. jeebus...

a lot of these are gonna be the same as becks' but anyway...

recommendations

acts(in no particular order except aussie then international..):
-Tripod - man bites god - charlie pickering + michael chamberlin(boiling point 3 perhaps??) - Justin Hamilton - Aaron Keeffe and Julia Wilson - Tom gleeson(usually doesn't disappoint for new material) - The homeowners - Danny McGinnlay - Courteney Hocking - Greg Fleet - Morgs - Flight of the conchords - ross noble - Boothby graffoe - dave gorman - chris addison - arj barker(if he comes out..) - ed byrne(he swore to me and sharleen that he'd be back with a full season, and he better stick to it!)

this list could go on for aaaages and i'd still forget people, so i'll leave it there.

general things:
-ask people what their favourite shows were. if more than 2 of your close friends recommend someone, go and see them.
-don't always believe the hype, or reviews - but do take note of what shows get *lots* of good reviews.
-talk to people who look lonely in the hifi.(unless they're the creepy blonde, glasses wearing stalker-woman.)
-don't leave your fucking mobile phone on during shows. i will find you and beat you to death with it (that could also be classed as a warning)
-take a chance on people you haven't heard of, but remember to go see your old favourites!
-visit janet's wonderful little info booth for cheap/free tickets if you don't know what to see.
-visit the Peter Cook bar (its warm and cosy)
-go see the shows at the hifi when there are really good line-ups. odds are you'll catch stuff that people will be talking about for years to come (like boothby biting off adam hills' prosthetic leg.)
-go to see the Superband
-go see all star karaoke (funny as hell)
-go to spinning wheel (it rocks beyond reckoning)
-go to the moosehead awards night.(there's ALWAYS an awesome line-up with very, very few duds.)
-keep an eye on 'love tv' if it's on again this year in the little tent in the top bar of the hifi - especially if lee mack is in there with mike wilmot and noel fielding *sigh* ah the memories.
-accept fliers from people in the street or offer a nice answer to them like 'i've got one already, thanks'. it's a sucky job, and it sucks even more when people are rude.
-have fun, and see as much as your wallet allows.
-...but save enough for drunkeness.
-go see shows on tight-arse tuesdays.
-go see lots in preview week cos it'll save you a heap.
-do one of those anon surveys when they come around.

warnings
-make sure you keep an eye on your money - don't spend it all in the first week!
-DON'T leave your mobile on during shows... someone will possibly find you and beat you to death with it
-if you're gonna stay out all night, make sure you have somewhere to sleep all day. (it may seem like a good idea at the time, but if you plan to work the next day - you're looking at getting festival flu in the second week.)
-don't take candy from strangers.. unless they're cute.
-don't let the micf nazis at the bottom of the stairs scare you - just tell them you're going to the bar. the big guy with the moustache is a gentle giant, really.
-don't let the crappy people with clipboards stop you.. fucking scientologists...
i can't think of any more, cos there's not really anything to warn against... i can't even think of any acts NOT to see... so there you go.

I'm done, stick a fork in me.

If Anthony Morgan is going to be there i'm a very happy bunny...last time i saw him live was at MICF in 1996 i think it was, or it could have been 1995...jeesh.

I love the man. I can big up Flight of the Conchords and I am also looking forward to seeing Man Bites God for the first time after hearing so much of their stuff.
