Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 3 | I saw Charlie Pickering and Chris Addison last night. Chris Addison was lovely, and I really enjoyed his show; Charlie Pickering was awesome. Really recommend going to see him. Seeing Ross Noble and maybe something else tonight. Also have tickets to Tripod (x2) and Wil Anderson. I'd love to see Adam Hills as well. I wish I could see more, but what's a mere student to do? Hoping everyone enjoys their festival! From, Kat (Tentative Newbie)

| mrs_doobie these days | thus far i have seen... Lano and Woodley - after a slow start their show is really quite amusing Ross Noble - of course it was brilliant Adam Hills - thanks to some lovely audience participation, i had a fantastic time GUD - once they actaully get their shit together (learn the new songs and decide what they are actually gonna have in the show) i think it'll be great. (Nicko, what would YOU rate it out of 10? tee hee) tonight off to see the scared weird little guys and brendon burns... PLUS, i just saw the go ggo mobile man (in the street, like, don't think he actually has a show lol)... ahh life is good! | ||

| mrs_doobie these days | well... am finished for tonight scardies... they have lost 'something'... dunno what it is, but i wish they would find it again... funniest part of the show was the encore... and that was old songs! brendon burns is a very odd man... funny in parts, but he seemed not to be getting whatever it was he wanted back from us, and therefore appeared frustrated for most of the show... i still giggled a lot though | ||

Lee was really good, relies a bit on audience participation. Glad I sat a few rows back so he didn't ask me anything, (not sure he would've understood me anyway with the cold I've got). Gud were great. I agree with you Miss Doobie, when they work out the song list and learn the songs the show should be even better. Part of the reason I went on the first night was to see it not all worked out. Loved towards the end when Paul couldn't finish 'Stripped' cause he was laughing too much at what Cameron was doing.

I'm undecided about spots - Geoff (Coupling) Who does surveys of 3 people, 3's not statistically significant - Cameron (Love Gud)

Just on the topic of A.P. Last monday when Adam Hills was talking about the adelaide Fringe and the pirates in the audience. That was me and my friends, one of them loves A.P (occasionally at great embarrassment to us) and started the pirate chain of thought.

| MOSHer | I have to say, I saw the Third Degree of Generation Hecs and I was more then impressed because I didn't have that high of expectations. It is a very good group that works well togther and the skits can be very cleaver! So Melbourne people, if you can - go give them a chance =D | ||

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 5 | Updates.... ![]() Rock'n'Roll High School -Man Bites God I had no doubts that I'd love this show, of course, but these guys just keep getting better. I was delighted to seen some little known old Drowning Hitlers songs come out, along with some hilarious new stuff, and a couple of classics. the highlights of the night are a stunning michael Jackson cover, and a french song translated that had us in absolute stitches, and tears, from laughing so hard. Revolver -Charlie Pickering A heartwarming and absolutely brilliant show. I've so missed Charlie solo, not that i didn't enjoy 'boiling point' - but Charlie, on stage, on his own, is just so beyond amazing. His use of a projector to show photos(so cute!), captions and film was absolutely hilarious. and whipping out the old Captain Cook vid was just an added bonus. Charlie always manages to be relevant, up to date, and just plain enjoyable no matter who you are. not to mention his sweet story that leaves at least one person crying every night, it's just so lovely, a great note to leave a show on. p.s - go see Nicko and Joe. they have new songs, and they're spiffy. MAKE THEM DO AN ENCORE so they can sing about manboobs ![]() ...that is all. .gone.

| My picks of the festival would have to be Todd Barry and The Bedroom Philsopher. Barry is so funny, and sarcastic - brillant. In fact, genius. I dont know why he is super big. He's just so un-american in his comedy style. The Bedroom Philosopher is going to be big one day. He's got everything. His songs are so witty, and has the geek chic down pat. Kind of like Tripod, but more Aussie and clever. He opens with the Tasmanian National anthem, classic. Check them both out if you can! | ||

| MOSHer | Warning Warning Warning (since all the others so far have been recommendations): Todd Barry. You may have thought he was funny at the Gala. And he was. Unfortunately he used up ALL of his jokes. Recommendations: - Adam Hills (duh!) - Chris Addison - GUD, but wait for the last week if you want a 100% polished show, see them now if you're like me and like it when it's a bit fucked up. ![]() - Ross Noble. Did result in me and two other people making Cameron very confused at GUD the other night. Let's just say it refers to tiny Krishnas. | ||

Warning - Gud fans - If you don't like old material, you wont like 75% of this show, or at least that was how I found it at the Adelaide Fringe. The new material was great, just not enough of it. Some of the material is from two years ago. ![]() Now I am a Paul fan from waaaay back, never thought I would EVER be bored at one of his shows, and it is somewhat disappointing to go to a show you expect to be a highlight and come out of it feeling quite ho hum. Perhaps he should take note of a quote from a quaint little book called "BOOK" which states that "nothing is ever funny twice". Now I don't agree with that, but five or six times.... You might try livening it up. If he calls for requests ask for the full monty. (be insistent - I bet Cam starts playing it!) Friends were going to try it, but the show was on earlier the last night, with another booked after it so they were rushed and didn't do that bit. What I would recommend is finding out whether Adam Hills has a second, unpublicised show happening as he did in Adelaide at the Rhino room. He and a mate, Pete Monaghan, had decided to do a show without any set material, without advertising it except at their own shows, and see what happened. They called it "That was always going to happen" and had a theme song, but that was it. It was on each Tuesday and Wednesday night. They had different guests each time, and the night I went they had two of the Twelve Angry Men and another guy. I don't know what the other nights were like, but it was one of the best nights I had, having seen Adams show earlier in the evening. (The other was Canned Hamlet, but I don't think they are at Comfest). Sadly I didn't discover this until the last week, and the following night I got there and it was full. Oh and it was for the bargain basement price of $7. As for having to stand at the Stand Up tapings, it was the same with the Big Gig too. But everyone write in to Aunty, a half hour is not enough. Enjoy your Comfest people ![]()
