Frank has damaged the cartilage in his knee, and so is doing the rest of the shows on crutches

Cam - where do you even keep a cunt once you've cut it out?
Mick - on a piano stool.

Son: Is there anything we can do to get Buffy back?
Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.

Maria Bamford...

What I'd seen of her (on Stand Up and stuff) I didn't really like, but on Tuesday she was cheap and filled a gap between Chris Addison and Sarah Kendall so I went along...

I LOVED it...

It seems that the little 3 and 4 minute bits she does don't really work when they are taken out of the show... but the show is great, lots of voices and characters, sometimes I wasn't even sure she realised we were actaully in the room with her. So, um... yeah, that's what I thought. Dave Gorman was sitting next to me and he seemed to enjoy it too.

dave gorman: very exciteable, very funny. he's a madman. 8/10.

chris addison: amazing. a show that makes you go "wow, how fucked up are we?" 9/10.

adam hills: saw twice, bought the tshirt. did not stop laughing. 11/10.

lano and woodley: eh. i thought it was lame. 4/10.

rob rouse: he's so loveable and you can tell he's trying really hard but not all of his jokes make it. still, he was a sweetie and he made me giggle. 7.5/10.

charlie pickering: the sweetest show of the festival. if you don't go awwwww you are not human. the start and the end were the best parts, coz he gets a bit rambly in the middle but it was still good fun. 8/10.

rod quantock: fucking excellent. political bitching at it's very best. 9/10.

mbg: cool show, liked the theme but i think a lot of the funny stuff is lost underneath the loudness of everything. or maybe i'm just old and i've lost my hearing down the back of the couch. 7/10.

tripod: scod is hot, gatesy is stupid, yon rocks my socks. still brilliant. 10/10.

ross noble: comedy god. a two hour show that had (and needed) an interval. he probably could've gone all night. wouldn't've minded if he did. 9.5/10

I got one the first weekend.

And modelled it for the audience on the last night.

Yeah, so I'm one of those mainstream fans, y'know, I stick to the comedians I know. Maybe next year I'll branch out a little more. Anyway, here's my thoughts...

Tripod: Huuuge fan; in my eyes, they can do no wrong. The Radiohead encore was beautifully done, and their chemistry on stage was phunny as! They're like siblings! Aw, luv em. Had a 30 second chat with good ol' G after the show, he recommended the festival club. Too bad I never ended up going; y'know, being all underage n' all. I would've tried getting past the bouncer though, but none of my so called friends wanted to accompany me. Anyway, Gatesy then had the second thought of actually asking me my age. I couldn't think of a witty answer, so he said he'd let me think about it. I still haven't gotten back to him on that.. hehe.

Anyway, back on topic...

Lee Mack: Had a crush on him since the Sketch Show first aired, saw his performance at the gala, *heart* the accent, so I went to see him. Oooh dear, front row was a huge risk, but one I was willing to take. I got away with just a "How old are you?" but my friends werent so lucky. Let's see, Lee's act was pretty much based on audience interaction. That's were all the jokes stemmed from. He actually had the nerve to ask for my friend's handbag, and proceeded to open it up and empty it's contents on stage. Then he came to her notebook. "Can I read it?" he asked cheekily. He couldnt resist reading the first page out to the audience, which basically explained my friend's frustration of how to get her new pen working. How embarrasment for her! Anyway, Lee's act started off with a cute 5-minute mini-movie, complete with Lee as a child explaining to us how he got started in the comedy biz. Nice work Lee!

Wil Anderson: Okay, so half this forum is against him for some reason, but personally I love the guy. He's a sweetie. I must brag about my encounter with him before I begin my mini-review, so bear with me. Okay, so me n friend were in line before the show and people started getting all excited. Next thing I see was Wil a coupla metres infront of us chatting with some dude in the line. I couldn't resist going up to him for an autograph. So, Wil asked me my name so he could write it on the ticket stub. Awww... *heart*. Not many comedians do that y'know, so it was a nice surprise. I asked him how he was feeling (it was two days after the infamous lemon meringue pie incident, which I had the privelige of seeing live ^_^), and he said he was still feeling pretty bad. Actually, this was the worst he's ever felt. I gave him my most heartfelt sympathy "Aww, WIl " before going back to my place in the line.
The show was great; all new material, all funny. He covered lotsa issues; and even remembered to mention Buffy, to my great delight!

Man Bites God: They sure do, don't they!? My god, those boys are funny. I loved the song Allison, if anyone has ever heard it. Basically, its about an ex of James', and halfway throught the song he ends up bawling, while Mark and Chris try to repeat his sobbing gibberish in backup. Mark and Chris were hesisant to let James sing the song "after what happened last night". Yes, apparently James was so distrought the two boys had to talk him out of jumping off the Westgate bridge. No worries though, Mark confessed to oiling up the spot so I would be easier for James to kill himself this time around. HILARIOUS! Another highlight was The Europop song, where Chris spoke lines in French, and James translated them. It went something along the lines of "I have a hat ... I have a cake ... I have a cake-hat ... Where is my cake-hat? ... I have a pen ... I dont want a fucking pen! ... etc etc". MBG, I♥U.

So there was my Comfest experience. Next year, when I'm rich, I'll definitely see more. 'Til then, peace out
