It was a lot better then last years. the highlight was the guy who was singing to the cartoon playing guitar>> that was gold. yeah, wil anderson....get some more jokes!!! He also totally steals other peoples bits as well....the guy has no shame! sarah kendell is ok. She's probably the best aussie female comic around (with the exception of ethel chop of course!! she's great). Lano & Woodley were fantastic! GUD were shit. They'd be a lot better if paul Mcdermitt didn't feel the need to 'dance'. Adam hills. the height of mediocrity. He's not bad...he's just not good either As much as i dont wanna admit it...Dave Hughes really is a good comedian. He was great. I liked the Schneedles (?).... they were good. Ye Olde Comedy. Daniel Kitson was ok....he kinda pissed me off with the whole 'analysing comedy' theme throughout it. Pretty good though. Tripod....well/// I was impressed with their harmonies....very smooth......but not funny. The only funny line was the one about how he wanted the lights turned down so it felt more lke a spaceship. Crap song though. ummmm....that's all i can remember. oh, fiona o'lauchlan (?)...yeah.....i'm kinda over kid humour. She's not bad though i guess.

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 4 | Was annoyed that they only showed the Rene Rivkin song from Gud, I was hoping that they would show the Stranger Danger song. I've heard the song twice now but keep losing the tune, (I seem to keep going into DAAS's Cosmic Cowboys). I was surprised to hear the bleeps in their song cause at first I couldn't work out what they would need to bleep out, then later when I realised I thought 'fair enough'. But that only adds to the point of why didn't they show Stranger Danger instead. The Howard Read act still made me laugh, but wasn't really paying that much attention to the whole thing, I was taping it though. Was surprised that they showed all the comedians usually at least 1 or 2 get cut out of the broadcast.

Reputation: ![]() ![]() Reputation Power: 9 | Okay, I've seen it now, so here come the comments! Magda Szubanski: Titney, with no lines, was funnier. Bad choice for the "host" of the night. Perhaps the starting bit would've been funnier if I'd ever watched Kath and Kim. ![]() And I didn't know "fly wire" came in sizes that thick. ![]() David Hughes: David?? Silly voiceover mannn.. Never used to be a fan till The Glasshouse.. Enjoyed his spot on the Gala. Good way to start out. And had the best line of the night, "Footballers are getting in trouble, aren't they? Footballers? They need education, don't they? They reckon they need education! I think they do need education! .. This is how the class should go - Everyone, excuse me, we're going to start now.. Don't rape anyone! Class dismissed." Topical, in better taste than the "other" bulldogs joke and funny. :thumbs-u: Tripod: Brilliant! Replaying the song over and over and over.. Know most of the words, now. :lookarou: Danny Bhoy: "Crushed grapes." And repeatedly saying "monkey". ![]() One of the other brillo lines of the night, "I've just picked up a cheeky little five year old.." ![]() The Schneedles: Probably the most original act of the night, and pretty amusing I thought, though I could see why some wouldn't much like them. ![]() Adam Hills: His lines about suspecting we might be harbouring jokes, very funny. ![]() Pretty good "gay" routine, too. Howard Read: The cartoon idea was original and also was kinda funny/cute, but overall.. Pretty shit. Maria Bamford: When she came on and admitted to being American, I went "uh-oh"... But was pleasantly surprised. She was pretty dang funny, I must say. "Oh, he only turns the other cheek to grab another can of whoop-assss!" ![]() "You know, fear the wrath of God and all that.. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to THE DARK SIIIIDE!" And then doing baby talk to "Yoda/God" Yoda is god. Maria Bamford is a legend. ![]() Akmal Saleh: Had heard much of his routine before. Pretty funny but would rather have seen stuff he hadn't used so much. ![]() Lee Mack: Lee, Lee, stinks of wee! Get out of our playground ya dirty old pervert! Not enough references to his cock, though. ![]() "You say Kakadu, we say push pineapple shake the tree." Very funny. :thumbs-u: Fiona O'Loughlin: Loved her everytime I've seen her. Usually not big on comics that mostly use family/friends as "material" but she does it really well, and you can really imagine her kids doing shit like she describes! "So there I am sitting at this specialist office, with this short kid, finding out why he's so short.. And I'm thinking, could be because he's not tall, but I don't have a medical degree..." Plus, incredibly hot for an "older" chick. ![]() Scared Weird Little Guys: Can we have that version as our national anthem? ![]() Their breakdancers were pretty good, too. "What's in that bag with your tucker, motherfucker?" Sad that they make better rappers than "real" ones, though. ![]() Greg Fleet: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Extremely clever, loved it to bits. ![]() "Rather than make a snap judgement, I sent a chap out to bring me 43 different kinds of animal; many of which are both difficult and illegal to kill." ![]() Denise Scott: I'm old. Laugh at me. Bad. GUD: Actually quite enjoyed them, though overall I'm not a fan of theirs. The bleeps annoyed me, too. Did love how many times they said "fat fuck". ![]() Tom Gleeson: Amusing. "My tan's got the same coverage as Optus!" Nothing special. Meshel Laurie: I'm fat and like to eat lots. Bye! Was there more on the night that didn't make it to air? Or did she just suck real bad? (my opinion, perhaps other people found it funny...) Daniel Kitson: I fucked up. Here's how it sounds when I don't fuck up. Oh no, I fucked up again. Are you laughing yet? Come to my show so I can afford a shave! Is he always that bad? And why didn't they cut him short? Or did I just not "get it"? ![]() I didn't see the shot of Sharleen. That may be because I don't know Sharleen. ![]() Todd Barry: BAD MAN! "Yeah, I was thinking Astrology was a load of shit, but.. more likely.. I don't know my own birthdayyyy.." Very funny.. Different kind of laid back approach to Dave Hughes, but I like it. ![]() Rob Rouse: Saw him on "The Fat/110% Tony Squires" and thought he was pretty funny.. Swore lots, too. ![]() "First of all, she's funny. Secondly, she's sexy, phwoarrr.. Thirdly, she's got TINY hands.. Everything I could ask for in a girlfriend." ![]() Dirty and funny, quite like him. Wil Anderson: First joke wasn't his, second one wasn't his, had heard some of the other bits... Still enjoyed his bit though.. He's very hyper. "Did you say Frankston Lesbian Midget Waxing Service? Nahhh, but put me through!" ![]() Sarah Kendall: "SKYSHARKS!!" Interesting idea, well done. Short and funny. :thumbs-u:Lano and Woodley: Tape gags crack me up. How'd he breathe when his head was taped up? eep! ![]() Chris Addison: Saw him on The Fat/110% Tony Squires, too, and wasn't impressed. His bit on the Gala was pretty funny, though. Queen/Queen Mother jokes are good when done well, and he did em pretty good. Probably not the best to end the show on, though. Scaredies would've been a better choice, in my opinion. Something to end the night on a high note? *shrug* [Edited to make names bold for clarity] And last but not least, are the people in the following shot (see attached) MOSHers, or are they just all wearing the same shirt because they're FREAKS? I assumed they were going to be part of something during the show, but nothing seemed to eventuate...

| Newbie | The comedy festival was pretty good, tho has been better in recent years (that ive seen anyway) This year i agree was a little dull, i dunno whether it was cause i was busting for it to come on telly and i hyped myself up to much or what. Thought the absolute best of the night was Lee Mack. His french perfume ad had me giggling through the next 3 comedians. Daniel Kitsen was alright, i thought he was rushing heaps and trying to say too much at once. Nothing can beat him last year talking about his football team with darren and daraan Danny Bhoy was another one that wasnt as good as last year but still funny. Loved Sarah Kendal, Adam Hills, Tripod and the yanky chick Maria Bamford. Thumbs up for MagdaAm new by the way, sorry to make it obvious, just wanted to say hi ![]() | ||

| Danny Bhoy rocked!!! Love him and his accent. The top man! and the whole 'monkey boy' and 'no, no Jesus, it's white wine with fish.' loved the schneedles too. Sarah Kendall was soo funny. loved her. And I was in hysterics when Ackmal was on. Lano and woodley really funny, but somehow I love woodley better than Lano. He's sorta irritating. Loved Adam Hills Gay routine. Fiona O'Loughlin was funny I loved the '..the doctors to see why he was so short, maybe because he isn't very tall but I don't have a medical degree..' and 'mum, will I have to be a jockey? no I think you'll be shot out of a cannon but we'll see what the doctors say.' I did love this one, in the other year's gala, there were funnier people since some were pretty shit. Like I hated GUD, Denise Scott, and tom gleeson. They were boring and crap. | ||
