| MOSH Addict | Very excited, but have been keeping it fairly contained, until you actually get a group of us together, thats when the kettle boils over. I don't go anywhere currently without a comfest guide incase someone asks me for reccommendations (then they are sorry that they did because they get a rather large list )but I'm not preplanning as much this year I'm going to just flow, I have my list of who I want to see, I just don't know when I will see them | ||

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 5 | I was extremely excited about the comedy festival coming up, and yeah, still am. I can't wait! there's nothing like walking into the festival club for the first time and seeing the first show of the season. I love it. yes, i'm slightly disappointed this year. ever so slightly - mainly just because of the lack of: -spinning wheel *sob* -flight of the conchords -Ed Byrne (he promised!!) -the boosh a couple of others. but yeah, it's still great! I got so excited about it when i got the guide and wrote out a list of must see shows right away, mentally. figuring out how much time i had and trying to decide what to do with the time that was given to me *cough* (yes. i am gandalf) I think my reason this year for not posting about it here was a few things, 1-noone else had, and I just haven't had much time.. 2-I've been stressing out over how many shows i can get to without killing my boyfriend - who doesn't think he'll be able to cope with the pace, and the fest club, etc, etc.. 3-I'm worried cos i have to work during the week, my boy's staying with me, and i'm going to be abandoning him most of the time - which I SO don't wanna do. 4-I'm supposed to be working some nights for sharleen and I don't really know when yet, so i'm worried that i'll be abandoning even more, and can't really plan for some stuff as i have no idea what i'm doing. 5-I don't know what to do about preview week cos andy won't be here - and while i'd normally go see as much as possible - i can't afford to be seeing stuff twice this year, so I don't think i'll be seeing much without him, unless i can get in for free... which is a thought.. *ponders* I think people have a lot of different reasons - as you can see, I don't think it's a huge conspiracy. it'll be as good as ever, minus the joy that is the spinning wheel and we'll get psyched moreso when it's here.we should start a thread for who people are seeing. cos I *do* have a list.. at home, anyway...

| MOSH Elite | i think it's also due to the fact that a lot of us aren't going this year, or still don't know if they are going. well HPN and i aren't going so there's 1/2 the fun gone I personally was going for 2 weeks this year. other years i go for about 5 days but still cram in about 3-4 shows a night (yes i'm weird) during which i mix in the regulars (i.e mcdermott, ross, adam hills) with the new stuff (danny bhoy etc) i also agree with myth that there is definate saturation at the moment, so a lot of people have already OD'd on comedy this year whereas its normally a cultural desert | ||

| MOSH Veteran | That's definately a valid point, I know (for me at least) that I've gone out to see comedy at least once or twice a week. Here in Melbourne there a quite a few rooms I go to. Every Friday night you can easily find me at Richard McKenzie's room, Friday Night Live at Nylon. Cheap comedy, good pizza and a great vibe. I go to Young & Jacksons every now and then as well, depending on who's on. My point being, is that there's always comedy in Melbourne... not just the festival and a lot of the acts we can see a fair bit without having to pay the larger cost of a festival ticket. | ||

| MOSH Elite | well i used to go at least twice a week anyway, often to open mic nights and such (otherwise u get bored). but i have only been to 3 gigs in the past 7 months since being retrenched. and they were all cheap tix to people like Hammo and Wil. and it was only cause i was desperate for comedy that i went (except for Hammo, I'd cut off a protruding limb to see Hamilton) | ||

| MOSH Elite | i say that all the time, yet somehow men don't seem to find it as funny. i think if u tell jussy that, he'll just think you're weird. but then the man is 30-odd with an imaginary friend. though i have an imaginary friend too. name's spike. i kept him chained to a wall in leather pants | ||

Reputation: ![]() Reputation Power: 4 | for me, i havent been particularly vocal cos we've still got Fringe going on over here, and technically my comfest wont start till the last week. I think the hype will build as the days draw closer, but at the moment, still getting over that! and also beginnning of uni and studying hype
