so yeah.. here's me startin' Early Risers (a comedylive venture ) - Not that I'm biased or anything by the fact that I'm working on the door, but these guys are genuinely quite hilarious. They're cheeky, they've got the cute accents, and they have a different special guest every night. They may not be big over here, but there's a definite YET to add to that, as I'm sure they'll become better known as the fest goes on. Also, it helps you cram more than 3 shows into one night if you go see one at 6!They're on at Club UK (downstairs in the mines of moria) Nicko and Joe - Songs we think we know - just fan-nubbing-tastic, I say. Their songs are hilarious, their between song banter and mistake punishment techniques make it impossible not to love them, and their on-stage chemistry as they blatantly insult each other, making the person who fucked up read out a passage about themselves, eg:'hi my name is _________ and the only way for me to become sexually aroused is to think about my mum on the toilet...' (sorry guys, i stole that one from the notepad on the table so if it gets used in future - they're not REHASHING, i'm just a stealerererererrrr who couldn't think of any of the ones from the actual show...besides something about peter andre's balls and sucking cock for a living..) they're wrong, they're hysterically funny, and they deserve big, adoring crowds (though ok, only 37 people can fit in the room..so don't go all at once!) my favourite show so far (ok, so i've only seen 4.. but still) These guys are gonna be selling out by the end of the fest, i guarantee it. (also at Club UK.) Yianni - Black and white - an interesting show about the differing perspectives that effect the way the world works, using a lot of examples from his own life (being greek orthodox) and chucking in some great impressions (of muppets and cartoon characters ) Yianni got a lot of laughs despite a few small glitches in his routine that i'm certain will get ironed out within a couple of days. worth seeing if you've got the time (though that could be said about a lot of things, couldn't it.) Good guy, Good comic. Good show.(also at Club UK.) Aaron Keeffe and Julia Wilson - Punch Drunk - I think most of us have seen either or both of these comics at some point, so you know the general gist; wimpy harry-potter/michael J.Fox look-alike boy meets Tough, rough, slutty bouncer-chick. A show split into 2 halves, but each taking the time to talk about each other (And pick on Nikki, which is always fun:P) they tell some of their classic stories that we either know and love, and can still laugh at, or don't know- and find even more hilarious. Sorry Aaron but Julia's my favourite.... I mean, she did attempt to take out Lauchie Daddo. you can't beat that.... GO and see them, and while you're there - check out some of the other shows at Nylon like Richard McKenzie, Luke Whitby, etc. there's some brilliant stuff down that dank little alley (and the flyer is FUCKING cool - as designed by Nikki and I )that's my bit for now. more news in a couple of days when i get to a computer again after seeing more shows. hope this catches on and I'm not just lame :lookarou: happy festivaling. | ||
