I really want to get into the festival, so if any of you have
previously worked there or know how to get work there
i would love to find out how.

Thanks

RE:work

You could try ringing them up and asking them. Word of advice, don't mention you're a comedy fan. Really depends on what you want to do, you should obviously try and get some experience, Fringe has a lot of volunteer positions which could help you.

Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.

You could always ask comedians (if you have seen and liked their shows) to flyer for them.

Isn't there a thread asking how to work at the 2004 comedy festival?

Surely it would be the same process?

Do you want work? Or do you want PAID work? Cos yeah there's probably heaps of comics who'd love you to help out on their shows.

I think being an usher at the fest would be wonderful!

Flyering is fun... but it also can be long and annoying.

To get a flyering job- you could either email the comic before the fest; or talk to them during! =) Maybe if you can start a little friendship. *

Before you flyer make sure
1) You have a good sales pitch; You need to know why the show is good - you have to talk to people instead of flyering.
2) Make sure you can handle rejection; Sandmans advice to the unpopular could help.
3) Know where the venue is!

Now; you may not get paid with money, but you will get paid with love, possibley a free show, and something to put on your CV!

You will also get to know fellow flyers who are also comedians, or something similair... and that is pretty cool!

*Many of the so called "bigger comics" dont need flyers - they have enough advertising and word of mouth as it is! *shrugs* So don't bother!

Depends on the comedian and their management. Most of the big comics don't flyer for themselves, they get other people to do it for them. The big agencies often hire a bunch of people to stand around handing out flyers that advertise all their acts. Although they have been known to recruit fans to help, in return for show tickets and merchandise.

You need to be aware of who you're really whoring yourself out to when you're flyering, too.
