Exclamation Accomodation for interstate people

hey y'all,

thought i'd start a thread in which people can ask for others to share accomodation, or want to know where they can stay.

at the moment, spoof and i are considering going the last week (10 days or so) of comfest. we are waiting to hear about 2 other people who may share a family suite with us at the vic. but the prices are very reasonable so others may want in on this too (not in the same room cause thats a little too commune for my liking)

we would prefer an apartment but thus far have had no success finding one for less than $2000 in the city (but who doesn't want their own pool in the apartment)

any ideas, suggestions etc we can share with other moshers always goes down well (since we're all a bunch of tightarses

Drunk Midget to even Drunker Chick - Have you ever had anyone go up on you before?

Son: Is there anything we can do to get Buffy back?
Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.

Ummmmm I am coming down for the last week (about six/seven days) from Brisbane. And I'm happy to share accom, seeing as I was only going to dorm it in a backpackers anyway. I'm not sure, I may have someone else with me though. I'd have to confirm.

But if you want another person, I'm available

Holy hell, girl, where have you been looking?? Try www.bol.com.au - Beds Online. Doesn't look like much, but they advertise a few rental apartments in the city that don't cost the earth.

With apartments, you're better off going through a private owner or a real estate agent, since most "holiday apartments" are technically just big hotel rooms, and they charge appropriately. A real holiday rental apartment shouldn't cost anywhere near that much money. They're very popular with businesspeople travelling on the company tab, for some reason...

I just couldn't lower my standards to have this high rise apartment with a pool and a gym etc....

And i was thinking more 6 - 7 days...not sure I can afford 10. Can't even be sure I will afford 1 or 2

If you're looking at staying in a backpacker's hostel, and you can get a few friends together, you can get the benefit of a dorm room for just you guys, at the cheapest rates. How many beds in a dorm depends on the hostel, too, so if you have a certain number of people, it can be worthwhile checking around for a place that has rooms for that number. Or even paying for an extra bed so you can have the room to yourselves.

I have heard of people staying at the Young and Jackson pub but not sure what they charge these days. If I go I'll probably stay with family.

the only reason why I havent organised a place for next comfest is because I've been hoping to move to Melbourne by Feb next year. I have even started looking at flats in Fitzroy on sold.net.au.

Of course, me taking a fulltime job yesterday could hamper those plans... eek!

Congrats on the full-time job, hope it's your dream job.

There's another sale on flights with Jet Star, I really should get my act together a book something now.

Heheh I was wondering if there's a "billet a comedian" program, or maybe "billet with a comedian" could be interesting.

Same sort of applies to any other airline though...Melbourne airport is still $12 worth of Skybus fare away from the CBD *g*

But JetStar only flies to Avalon from Sydney, and if you're prone to motion sickness like me that extra half hour on the bus ain't a good thing.

This won't be a whole lot of use just yet but a few of you may be later on...

I will be living in melbs next year and living in a house at that and come com fest. I would be more than willing to put people up....would love to have you stay as long as you want but as I doubt I will be living in a house bigger than 4 bedrom it could ge messy so people might have to work out a rotation...just a note I will be about 25 mins drive from the CBD.

Another idea/thought....for atleast some of the shows I was thinking of spending the night in a hotel so that I did not have to drive home... so I might take you up on that family suite if I decide to, otherwise I am happy to board myself. It's always fun

Is that the Vic hotel? How much do they charge for rooms there? It may not be the greatest place but you couldn’t get a better location! You only have to stumble, crawl or be dragged across the road to get back to your room…

As for hostels the one on Elizabeth St is supposed to be pretty good

http://www.budgetstay.com.au/ - has cheaper type hotels and apartments
