Apologies if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find a thread on it.

"Seriously Funny: The Best of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival", hosted by Tripod, is going to be on Channel 10 at 9.30pm on Friday, 11th March.

Should be worth a look!

hmmm the possibilities are endful

Drunk Midget to even Drunker Chick - Have you ever had anyone go up on you before?

Son: Is there anything we can do to get Buffy back?
Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.

I suspect its just one big ad to remind people that the MICF is on and give some much needed additional publicity to struggling comedy acts.

I haven't seen a list, but I reckon I can already tell you pretty much everybody that's on it - and none of them will be struggling acts.

Hey, I wasn't invited to be a part of it. So how canit be called 'The Best Of'???
[/self deprication]

Well, why would you have struggling acts on a Best Of show?

One of my old Gala tapes was sacrificed. And not only was it not to soemthing cool, like Kali, but I didn't even know until I started packing tapes and checking what they were. It CLEARLY says "Comedy Festival Gala - DO NOT TAPE OVER" on the box and on the tape, but alas, the tape itself is of Rex Hunt. Rex Hunt?! I know who did it, and he will pay.

Sorry, this post does have a point. I hope some of my lost performances are on this show. Plus, bonus Tripod!

re: struggling acts

Actually I probably should have turned my sarcasm mode on. Or maybe quotation marks would have done.

Its just gonna be spots from the past 10 years, which will more than likely be the very same acts that are gonna be here this year. </sarcasm>

I'm looking forward to it - got a few gaps in my collection... 1994, 1997 and 1999 (although I'm certain its somewhere!).

I hope this doesn't mean they won't have the Gala this year? I would assume they'd still do it because it's a charity thing?

Two little bits in today's TV Guide about it.

This program proves that stand-up comedy is alive and well in this country. Centered around the recent Melbourne Comedy Festival, it provides - by way of interviews with local and international comedians - an insight into the minds of comics and a look at the festival's history.

Hosted by Tripod. Includes Australian stand-up comedians Dave Hughes, Wil Anderson, Fiona O'Laughlin, Peter Helliar and Adam Hills.

Just a reminder to people that this is on tonight.
I'm planning on watching "The Rats" on Ch7 and if that sucks, I guess I'll be watching the comedy thing.
