In the Age in the adds for the comfest shows, it says some of the people who are going to be on the debate. They are: Stephen K. Amos Julia Zimero (I don't know how to spell her name. Host of Rockwiz, Full Frontal girl and many other things) Carl Barron Akmal Saleh Robyn Butler (Tough Love), and others. Topic: Has God got a sense of humour?

In the past, a lot of the big names have just used their festival show material and changed it slightly to suit the topic. I have no doubt that most of the performers this year will have fresh material, and actually make sense during their arguments. I would like to make a prediction... Carl Baron, if he's on the affirmative side (that god does indeed have a sense of humour) he'll use the arguement 'If he didn't have a sense of humour, how could he create something that looked like me...' I predict he'll make fun of his looks at some point.

I do like some of the comedians, but I'd rather see the topic being debated in an interesting and fun fashion. Recent ones have been more about the debaters trying to be funny and sometimes not even clearly arguing their side - can't remember who it was, but during their whole bit I thought it was leading up to some revelation that would clinch their teams case. And then they just finished and I realised they were just talking shit. Meh. Maybe I'm just too old school for the "Great Debate" anymore. ![]()

| MOSHer | I take it that most people here had such low expectations of this debate, they found it hard to be disapointed? John Saffron was a good choice for adjudicator, particularly seeing as J.S VS God is currently being repeated on SBS. Robyn Butler got under my skin. I'm not sure what it was, but she annoyed more than amused me. Stephen K. Amos was pretty good. His only flaws were encouraging Robyn's petty comments, and using a gimmick in his opening, rather than during rebuttles. Carl Barron, as predicted stuck to his usual routine. I'm not paying himout personally, I just think he was a really, really poor choice for a debate. Julia Zemirro went well, showing off a vocal imitations, whilst remaining relevent. Akmal Saleh was good was the saving grace of his team, but even he couldn't dig them out of that hole. Arj Barker was another pleasant suprise, doing much better than expected. Did anyone else manage to stay awake long enough to form an opinion? | ||

| MOSHer | Some bits were quite amusing. I have similar thoughts like yourself. I didn't like Robyn Butler, i just didn't thinks she was funny. Julia Zemiro just shits me always (possibly due to her full frontal days). Didn't think much of carl barron. Funny guy, but likewise, not he's not really debate material. The other three dudes i liked. And i don't think i'd heard any of arj's material before so i really enjoyed when he was on. | ||

| MOSH Elite | julia was good, just not funny which defeats the purpose of a comedy debate. robyn was just being insulting, trying to make it like the mcdermott era and ripping into people. stephen k amos was good and i agree that he should have saved the ezekial 25.17 spiel till the end. carl barron - had a toilet break as soon as they said his name so no idea but i bet he would have annoyed me if i had seen it. akmal is good though i have seen better constructed arguements. i thought he would have focused more on the fundamentalists like he did on the gala. arj was a pleasant surprise, and i must say the best out of the lot of them. john safran was a good host. but i love him at the moment from watching waaayy to many episodes of vs god on dvd. and it wouldn't be a debate without ted blowing shit up ![]() | ||
