I really want to do the Lock-in...I'd have to give up a day at work..no great loss there. But 20 hours ...

But 20 hours with only the Hi-Fi loos...scary. As long as they keep the downstairs ones open.

Reckon they'd let us bring in our own portaloo? We could put a padlock on the door so only we could use it, and it'd stay relatively nice and clean and supplied with toilet paper and such all night! *g*

I think they'd have to leave the downstairs ones open...anyone paying $120 to go to something like that won't be leaving early, and if it sells out they'll have too many people to rely on just two cubicles. I'm just hoping they assign someone to cleanup duty in the ladies loo.

The Lock-in sounds interesting but paying $120 upfront is making me gulp a bit. You could get a couple of nights accommodation for that kind of money!

My first thought was: what'll the Hi-Fi do about food? Granted, I've only been there for a few hours at a time but, from memory, they don't do catering. Or will it be a "bring your own esky" affair? If there's no refreshments, then the toilets won't be needed very often!

It translates to about 6 shows, if you expect an average-to-cheap price of $20 per show. More like 3, if you're looking at people like Ross Noble and the other big names. It's $20 more than three hours of Billy Connolly was *g*

It's $1 for ten minutes, or $6 per hour. How many shows can you go see that only charge a rate of $6 per hour? I think I've only ever been to one $6 show, and that was with a half price thing *G* A few things work out cheaper...a long night at Mic in Hand in Sydney is still only $10, and two hours of that gives you $5 an hour, but most comfest shows charge a higher hourly rate *giggles*

See, it's all about perspective!

The ad promises donuts at dawn *g*

Actually, according to the website, the hifi does big functions that include seated dinners, so I guess they either have a kitchen in the back somewhere (there looks like there's room behind the upstairs bar *g*) or they get stuff brought in for events requiring food. I just hope this is one of those occasions, cause normally, all they offer is packets of chips, and I don't know many people who can last 20 hours on just chips and alcohol *G*

Anything's possible during the Comedy Festival!

I'm slightly ashamed to admit it, but it may have been the prospect of donuts that was really swaying it for me. I'm pretty keen to sign up, but it does conflict with at least two other one-off shows I'm interested in. Oh, and then there's that whole not-being-a-negligent-parent thing.

im going to give the hifi a call tomorrow to check if lock in literally means "lock in" ie no passouts - ie if theres no food inside and there were passouts, one could get it elsewhere close by if there were passouts. would be better if they had food though...

or i will bring my own im definately going though!

I'm not sure if I can justify the two weekend shifts off in a row, plus the cost...eeek...but really want to go!

How i wish i lived in melbourne!!! Cause my mum and sister are going to Melb for the may long wknd and they arent taking me!!! THey're going to see the lion king not the MICF. Im praying that mum will suprise me and let me come, cause i have wanted to go and see lw at the festival, and thsi is their last year there!!! Sure they may be there separately (or at least frank) but still.....

You'd have to save up a lot to go to all the shows that you all want to see!@!!!

Oh yeah those seeing lano & woodley, from what ive heard from pple on my forum, its a really great show and no show is the same. Im gng to see Goodbye in lismore, then the next nght at caloundra (hehe me and my friend are gng to be called stalkers lol), then 3 times in Brisbane (including on my bday-the 25th august :P best way to spend a bday having a great laugh,,....and perhaps crying as well) and then 2 times in Darwin to see their final show....though now they may be doing a final show in melb....but tickets for that woudl go through the roof!!! Me and other fans were gng to go to Perth (cause i thought that was the last one) but found out its Darwin-heaps cheaper in terms of flights)

I wish the festival was later cause i have a velocity credit card nad will get 15000 points and i could use that for a flight to melbourne!!!! but nooo it has to be credited to my velocity a/c at the end of may...thats useful isnt it?

Howdy all,

Shamelessly pimping for my own show, while we're talking about schedules - here's the free midnight line-up at Trades ("Midnight Trade"):

Tuesdays: The 4 Noels - Late Nite Spelling Bee
Wednesdays: Scott Edgar And The Universe
Thursdays: Wilson Dixon And Friends
Fridays: The Drowsy Drivers: 1982 With A Bullet
Saturdays: Eddie Perfect And The Men
Sundays: The Shuffle Club - Shaken 'n' Stirred

I'm just sayin'.

I was already thinking Midnight Trade would be an excellent alternative on nights when the festival club failed to offer something worth paying to see, this just confirms it. Yay for free stuff and yay for a better looking schedule than the hifi!

Just got my first ticket. Yay! Only a week till kick-off - I'm so slack

[Edit] hey November, do you have a schedule? I was thinking I should not buy too many more tickets yet in case there's maybe stuff you want to see together?
