For those curious about who's going to be part of the lock in, this was in The Age on Sunday:

COMEDY
In a cabin-fever-inducing event, the Comedy Lock-in literally locks in local and international comedians and fans for a 24-hour stand-up show. On the bill are Daniel Kitson, Adam Richard, Demetri Martin, Charlie Pickering and Michael Chamberlin, Arj Barker and Ethel Chop. Hardcore!
Apr 29-30, 11.30pm. Hi-Fi Bar & Ballroom, 125 Swanston St, city. $120. Tel: 1300 660 013 www.comedyfestival.com.au

Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.

In theory, those don't clash.
Midnight 29th of April is 12am. Dawn would be 7am-ish? For 7-ish hours of hilarity.
The lock-in is 11.30pm the 29th till 11.30pm the 30th?

But it depends, because some people think 12 midnight is 12pm, or think midnight is part of the same day as the 11.59pm of a minute ago, etc.

Apparently it's been cancelled, according to the comedy festival website (Here.)
I didn't hear anything about it being cancelled up until now?

re comedy lock-in

i bought my comedy lock-in ticket a couple of weeks ago and have been checking the comedy festival site every few days to see if they had announced any more comedians to the line up on the lock-in page.

instead of the "book now" button this morning, it said "cancelled".

called the comedy festival phone number on the site and spoke to a rude, nasty biatch who had no idea what she was talking about.

anyway..rung ticketmaster who confirmed it was cancelled and then got a refund for my $120.

now i look at the site again and it has the lock-in page as "buy now".

wtf???

It sounds like I may have spoken to the same woman at ComFest a couple of weeks ago about a different matter...

I was thinking about going to Lock-In but have been holding off due to the price. Perhaps it's just as well now.

As to the "Buy Now" link, when you click through to the Ticketmaster site, it says something along the lines of "Show not found".

My guess is other people were thinking along the same lines as me and delaying their purchase. The combination of $120 and 20 hours may have been just too much. At any rate the alternative mentioned above seems more attractive both in terms of price and duration!

While I'm thinking about it...

Was there something happening on Anzac Day that I didn't know about? I went to three shows last night and every comedian performed their show wearing only socks (eg no shoes). Conspiracy, challenge, or purely coincidence?

i just called ticketmaster and they confirmed that the show was definately cancelled.

regarding the original schedule which i posted...

i have been reading the funny tonne reviews on the site and i have majorly changed what i am going to see based on that. a lot of smaller, cheaper shows by less well known acts but they sound more exciting than the majority of the bigger acts!

i will be doing reviews for my website when i finally get down to melbourne.

was looking forward to the lock-in (and booked flights down earlier to go to the bloody thing!), but yeah well plenty of other things to see...still grrrr though...

It's still on the ticketmaster website, it's just the "name" has changed - The Comedy Lock-In - Cancelled - so the link from the ComFest site is wrong. And the link from TicketMaster back to the ComFest site is wrong, too.
