Loungeroom Fancies - 2pm this Sunday @ Glitch

Most djs want to get you up on the dancefloor, making "woo" noises & busting moves. Our djs would like you to sit down, be quiet & pay props to the music with nodding & murmuring. This is music for people who love music. These songs ain't necessarily dancefloor fillers, but they are beautiful, fragile little packages of good lyrics & lovely chords. Some of your favourite international and local comedians have put together their list of their all-time top five songs they love but would never get played in your local nightclub. You should come & listen to them talk about the songs, why they love them & then hear some songs that could change your life (in a very low-fi sort of way). So if you're looking for some sunday afternoon delight & an escape from comedians telling jokes, for something completely different, come see some comedians play & talk about music.

Hosted by Courteney Hocking & Andrew McClelland.

2pm Sunday 30th April (tomorrow) featuring Mark Watson, Andrew McClelland & Alan Brough.
2pm Sunday 7th May with secret special folks you'll love.
@ Glitch, 318 St Georges Road North Fitzroy.

I missed it, I only got to bed at 1pm after the Lock-In (or whatever it's called).

Anyone wanna give a report?

If you tell a joke in the forest, but nobody laughs, was it a joke?

It was really good. It was just people sharing their music - sitting quitely in a darkened room, not talking, just listening. The comedians did a lit bit of talking inbetween the songs, but it's not about the comedy. It's the sort of thing that I'd love to have all year round - not even necessarily with comedians on the stage - just a group of people that get together and play some music for each other.

Seeing Alan Brough sitting there telling stories made me realise how much I've missed seeing him on stage. He's such a brilliant storyteller. I introduced myself afterwards and quite awkwardly told him as much... I feel so wierd starting the conversation with performers (whether musical or comedic) - I'm normally around enough that they'll just notice me and start the conversation at which point it's all casual. Starting a conversation with "I really like you" is friggin wierd.

Hey there,

Just in case anyone was planning to come along again this Sunday, Loungeroom Fancies won't be on due to Mothers Day. But hopefully we'll be back the week after next with some more twinkly music & relatable ramblings from interesting folks. Will keep you posted.
